Even if it had been a first down, I have little confidence that BYU wouldn't have scored a TD anyway.
When the game fell on JG's shoulders, I knew we were in trouble sad to say.
He has come up short a few times in situations where we desperately needed points at the end of a game. Our inability to move the ball reminded me of the game against SCar a couple years ago
Couldn't run the ball in the 4th because BYU was selling out on the run, they knew we had to run the ball because nobody in orange trusted JG at that point. He continuously threw in double and triple coverage all night long with atleast 2 should've been tds but he was late on his reads and overshot or threw them late. It's not all on him but 90% of it is. It affected the defense because we couldn't keep drives going and they were gassed, because he can't throw the ball unless it's a 2 yard check down even though we had receivers open down field. He had time, oline played pretty good he just can't seem to get beyond his first read. I like JG he's just not a good or even serviceable QB, I was rooting for him but he just doesn't have it between the earsJG was awful. With a better QB, Tennessee probably wins the game. But every post seems to be about JG. Folks, he's not the sole culprit in this! BYU had -4 rushing yards in the first half, and then we couldn't stop them in the 4th quarter/OT. We had 240+ rushing yards in the game, but we couldn't move the ball on the ground in the 4th quarter/OT. BYU's coaches adjusted, Tennessee's did not...for a second consecutive game. We have problems that extend far beyond JG.
