Optimistic Bass is best Bass.

Welcome back my man.

If we were 1-1 and the loss was to BYU I think everyone would be disappointed but okay. That GSU loss killed us around here. And you know, that loss is on Coach Pruitt. No excuses for that. He did not have his team ready because he felt they were going to win easy, and he was wrong. He has to learn from that, I think he will. Doesn't help that JG played terrible also. If he doesn't, we win anyway.

But the BYU game was different. We were prepared. We played far better against them than last week. We were aggressive, play calling was outstanding. We were a QB away from blowing them out. Simple as that. And when the QB is playing terrible and we can't score touchdowns, all it takes is a turnover and a defensive bust, and these things happen. I'm optimistic right now. We just need JG to get it together or find someone who can. But Pruitt said today that there's no doubt who the best QB is on our team so those other guys must not be ready yet.
It should take more than bad QB play for us to lose to that team. That means the rest of the team isn't where it needs to be, not just the QB.

People's being so easily persuaded by words is why politicians and used car salesmen do so well in this world. How many more games to far inferior opponents do we have to lose before your excitement diminishes? I don't dislike the guy and I hope he turns it around, but I'll never understand how people are "excited about him" based on a few minutes of a speech or "are certain he's the next great coach" based on zero head coaching success or experience.
Just like with Butch, to some he will be the best coach we could possibly have until the moment he’s the worst coach we could possibly have. Probably the same folks. There is no middle ground.

There is a 0% chance of a top 10 recruiting class if we're losing to teams with far, far inferior talent like the last two. Anyone with a brain knows that Pruitt isn't in a secure position, even if every single one of the "Fire Pruitt" crowd got sucked into a black hole. Top recruits want to play for a coach who gets the most out of whatever talent he has. That's how coaches with bad records can still get top recruits, they can show that lack of talent is the only issue. We are a thousand times more talented than the two teams we just lost to, so Pruitt can't sell that message to top recruits.
LOL at this.

Pruitt can sell early PT as a True Freshman. That is how he will continue to recruit.

Soooo by that logic JG would be above average in that he doesn't drop off like almost every other QB from HS to college.

Those numbers in high school play are good decent about average numbers,it shows potential.fast forward to college, those numbers are average if not below but will not get the job done.the point is we are needing more from a QB that’s giving us the Same numbers he put up in high school and shows no improvement of getting better.the numbers show he hasn’t dropped off, gotten better or worse just that he’s peaked.what you see is what you get with JG.

Whats the alternative? Fire now? That would be worse.

At this point you roll with who you got and see what happens next year.

Can’t start em til you play them (see Nathan Peterman). So, the second one. What I personally believe that Pruitt/Chaney/Weinke are juggling is the confidence factor. You indicate too strongly that you’re prone to going in another direction and you may lose whatever good you’ve built up in your starter. And if neither of the other two options are up for it, you’ve completely tanked the season. Happened TWICE for Fulmer in non-coincidentally his only two losing seasons. Yo-yoing Ainge/Clausen the first and Crompton/Stephens the second. Both Ainge and Crompton proved worthy with proper handling...Fulmer may have shared that with his hire. If JG starts and doesn’t show much, I can see the staff really break down what the other two show...with perspective of it being their first college action. Chaney has never been timid with going another direction. Tyler Bray and Jake Fromm (even tho his opportunity came with an injury) are ready examples. Read...schmead! We’re not seeing good throws...period!
I want to see for myself but two things.

1. I hope attention was paid to your post. Pruitt saying we NEED to find a backup allows him to play the others without deflating JG. So I'd slow down on what they took from the presser.

2. Lots of people remember Dobbs but seem to forget all the others. I DO want to try but "no way they can be worse" definitely isn't true😅

Translation: “The dudes behind him don’t appear to be any better st this point.”
I think it's even worse than that. It does sound like they know they need to get both the backups some game reps, and plan to do it when the opportunity presents itself.

Pruitt at the QB club:

I like it...and why this....

Just like with Butch, to some he will be the best coach we could possibly have until the moment he’s the worst coach we could possibly have. Probably the same folks. There is no middle ground.

Is stupid. CBJ and Pruitt are 180 degrees different from each other.

If Pruitt is the guy..we will have a better understanding at seasons end, barring any rash of injuries. The team and coaches can grow in their craft and it helps create self perpetuating expectations within the team and for the fans. We may say "look how far they have come". Makes winning sweet.

Not to make an excuse and I haven't rewatched it to confirm, but I think they missed a PI on that play. I believe right when Palmer separated from the DB he was grabbed on the hand or something similar and it took him a step to regain speed. I remember this because the next play we benefited from the phantom facemask when the BYU DL grabbed our RB near the helmet
You are correct. It was holding at the very least. However, JG hasn’t released the ball yet, so that’s not the reason he overthrew Palmer by at least 3 steps.
