So ‘20 season we’ll the following receivers:

Palmer (sr)
Gibbs (Jr)
Keyton (so)
Tillman (so)

Possibly Means

Plus 3-4 freshman from this class, right?

Looking back at the stats from last night, we rushed for 242 yards and give up only 1 sack. Game shouldn’t have been close, JG was straight awful and still should’ve won. Coaches put us in a position to win but the players didn’t execute when it mattered most.
This is obvious for everyone who watched the game. This was not on the coaches

According to Simonton neither Shrout or Maurer are ready. JG is all we got. We need Chaney to perform a miracle.

Have read the same elsewhere.

Now would be a fine time to run what Helton tried last year but failed because our run game was poo poo. 60/40 run and leave passes to simple screens, comebacks, or PA deep jump balls. Very little over the middle. Take the control from him and only let him throw what he is good at. It limits the offense, but at least gives us a chance.

I remember the year Richt got fired all the Georgia fans were whining about Grayson Lambert and how Richt needed start the backups. Well, Richt gave them what they wanted and the backups sucked even more. Pruitt lost me with the Georgia State shatshow, but I'm inclined to believe that he and Chaney wouldn't still have JG out there at this point if he wasn't the best we have or if the other guys were close.

It Fulmer had gone with Leach last year. Are we in a better or worse spot right now?
I'd say the same. We still have a lot if inexperience on D and the OL and unless he has a different QB we'd still be starting JG. I think it's just now hitting the large portion of the fanbase just how much JG limits our success.

JG was decent last year. He has certainly regressed. I think Helton had the right idea - have him play within a system of constraints. Now it's all open to him and he isn't able to handle it.

Just one metric of regression - he only had 3 picks all of last year. Now he has 2 in 2 games and could easily have 5. He rarely threw into coverage last year and now it's like he is gung ho and reckless, or simply doesn't see it.

JG may not be very good, but I think he can at least manage in a simpler system. Seems like it is the best adjustment that can be made for him right now. Needs to get out of his head.

Fwiw I think the backups will get PT vs utc. 1 of them would need to absolutely kill it to prove something, otherwise I don't see them benching JG. Everything I've read is maurer and shrout are nowhere near ready. That said some guys are just gamers. Neither showed much in the Spring game, but it's been half a year...who knows? But someone will have to earn their trust, because despite what fans say, it can always be worse - Peterman vs Florida comes to mind. I'd be ecstatic if one of them balls out and turns this ship around. Whatever it takes.
But Peterman was decent under JC....

I’m still on the Pruitt train, just shocked that for the first time in years we dominate the offensive LOS and still loose. Also I watched Trey a lot yesterday and man he’s good.
Yeah it was crazy. Watching the game it was so obvious that we were dominating both offensively and defensively. But we'd get in the red zone and their defense would tighten up and JG just could not do anything. Literally anything. I mean, if he could do anything, we would have won going away. Absolutely crazy.

That’s why I’m saying there’s absolutely no way Shrout or Maurer can’t make something happen. JG has proven time and time again that he can’t. WRs bail him out and make him look better than he is.

Yup.

He can make the throws between the 20’s. More room to work with and he’s not punished as bad for the late reads. Those openings close much quicker in the red zone. Smaller area for the defense to cover and he’s simply not able to take advantage of any openings quick enough.

If JG is benched (I don't trust Pruitt do that) will other players that like him and want him to start create problems ?
I'd take my chances. I honestly haven't heard of anyone that truly and genuinely connects with him. Not throwing shade. Most of the stuff you hear in interviews is lip service.

Yes!!! That was thought on The Nation. Problem is if u get out to big lead, then play JT and Mauer, say they play well...do u go back to JG to start in Swamp?

Do not wait until the Florida game to start a backup....put them in to start the Chattanooga game period...don't wait so you can blame all the bad on them...got to put the backups to start the game and leave them in there to see who plays best in a game situation...

It will be very bad on Pruitts end if he waits any longer...and then tries to blame the backups without ever giving them the opportunity and throw them in the fire....do it now...

JG has been given every opportunity.....

SEC defenses are going to shut the run down...and shut it down hard unless someone can see and hit the open receiver....

JG can be serviceable, they need to limit his read to two progressions though. He's just not going to be a guy who moves though complex progressions. Any time we have Callaway or Jennings isolated in man coverage needs to be a damn jump ball down field. Hell we won at Auburn last year on just that.

He has one read. Can’t handle the second. WRs won that game at auburn last year.
