That’s not an excuse. Tennessee has bigger and more athletic players then Georgia state and BYU. Every team loses players every year and it’s the coaches job to get the players and plug them in. Yes the team played better yesterday but there is no excuse to losing to BYU. Especially when we had a 99.6% chance of winning the game on the final drive in the 4thYou do realize we lost most of our production on defense, Right? Add to it Bituli is hurt and Thompson isn’t apart of the team makes our defense vulnerable.
The team has progressed, the QB hasn’t. He’s took steps backward.
I’ll give the coaches most blame for the first game. That team looked unready and not focused. Last nigh is all on the players. Defense played well minus ATs blunder and JG missed so many reads not to mention one of his TDs was a fluke. Our backs and OL looked pretty good I thought. No sacks Gray and Chandler looked good. Jennings is a legend. To’o To’o and Crouch look like promising players. The team has more issues than one player but they are good enough to be 2-0.We lost to Georgia State and BYU. This isn’t a one player issue.
So you don’t have any specific name just arbitrary percentages. For the record, I was never a Butch fan. Matter of fact I pretty much checked out during his time here. I’d watch games but wasn’t invested like I was before and after him.Anyone who was still on board with him being the coach after the Oklahoma and Florida games, which was 95% of this forum. Hell, some people were still on board with keeping him after he lost to Vanderbilt in year 4.
No point to my post except to be clear. Not trying to speak for others, just where I'm at.
I'm not out on the coaches yet.
Down on the loss but up on the direction I saw. That's just where I'm at.
Anyone that disagrees, that's no problem. As long as folks understand that just repeated badgering won't make me think like you.
Nothing personal, some of you just seem determined and I don't think most Vol fans work that way. At least I know I don't.
Yep. We’ll quickly find out BYU isn’t very good.
To say all these problems were fixed in one week - besides the QB - is very unlikely.
