Windy's football discussion thread.

Is there a coach on Tennessee's staff that the fans would hire (approve of) to replace Pruitt after this season?

There is not one coach we could hire that would have more than ...I'd say 75-80% approval. No, not one.

*Halfway realistic. I mean, there might be 82% approval on Belechick. Maybe.

None & you are correct on remembering
Wasn't there a 4th conversion we failed on that was in field goal range? Around a 48 yarder in the 3rd? I can't remember, but I thought there was. I had way too much blood in.my old alcohol system. And I'm old.

I'm old too & sometimes get CMS. Let me do some checking
Doesn't really matter to me. Its done and I still like going for it on 4th more often than not. But with Caligula, if we can get 3 instead, I might change my mind sometimes.

I was wrong, there was 2 4th down plays we were in field goal range & went for it & failed.

Scroll down to scenario's
Jeremy Pruitt reflects on fourth-down choices in Tennessee football's loss to BYU
I thought there were two 4ths that we went for and didn't make that COULD have resulted in three points IF made.

Wasn't there also one 4th we went for that resulted in a TD? Iirc, that's the one I posted "ODL! Kick the FG already.", with a follow up post of "Eyes wrong." after we went for it and scored a TD.

We only invited a few people to this thread

The thing I enjoy most is we know each other pretty well and don't have to constantly explain what we mean. If say I like that Pruitt goes for it on 4th often, I don't spend the next 40 minutes arguing with some dude that just called me a Pruitt leg humper that probably worshipped Dooley and Butch.

I'm ready for a new QB. JG can't read defenses, stares down his targets, tends to panic and dump off before he has to, seems hesitant to run when he can......he's just not a good field leader. He's too inside his own head. Lots of blame to go around for this game, mostly on the coaches, but JG is not helping this team IMO. Something is not clicking for him and it's detrimental to this team.

I hate what UT football has become, but firing Pruitt is not the answer. No one worth a damn will want this job, and UT certainly won't pay worth a damn to get anyone good interested. We are a dead program.

even with JG, that game should have been a W -- getting fed up with DBs getting burned on long passes. UF wont have to rely on it to win this year, but its happened there twice too
For whatever reason, Taylor gave up his man. I can't believe he was coached to do that, so it had to be player error IMO.

Just watch the Titans/Browns post game. Boomer commented on the Browns hiring an unproven NFL coach. By all accounts, Kitchens is a great guy but may not be best fit for the Browns.
Haslam must have a boner for project coaches. Does it at UT. Does it at Cleveland.

It looked like he was way over thinking it. Like he was trying too hard in his head and not instincts. Needs to play more loose. My son played football and I always have him beside me to explain stuff on the football field, even I could see that for myself.
