Windy's football discussion thread.

As an alumnus, I am sick of administrative ineptitude and paying for coaches who aren't coaching UT teams. If Pruitt goes 0-48, he's Tennessee's coach through his contract. If Fulmer extends or sweetens the terms before Pruitt fields a team that competes for the division, fire Fulmer and leave him trussed up in his underwear on the bridge over Cumberland Ave.

I’m completely over the mindless bitching about coaching from dipsticks on here. It ain’t easy. There are very few elite coaches and this guy took on the challenge knowing that it was going to be a rough couple of years.
We have great coaches seriously. Check their records. Fans bitch about that but the administration listens. Just like our last coaching search. We have great recruiting and player coaches. Outside Ansley and Chaney who run the team supposedly. They came back for money. Pruitt was trying to bring his high school buddies. He might need that because it’s a power trip hiring coaches that have never worked together.

Those of you finding your frustration with the football Vols overwhelming, take a break to cheer on Tennessee volleyball. UT may be building a competitive program under our current coach.

It's just another thing to argue. Message boards thrive on conflict.

CJP is not our answer, though.

Several others keep saying that too. I'm glad y'all do. Just wish you were in charge to fix it. Get the person in there that is the answer since y'all know so much.

Lol.

Brother Behr, I wish I had the knowledge to fix it and I wish I had the opportunity.

I hope I'm wrong about Pruitt, and if I am, I hope you never let me forget it.

But yeah...he's not our future.

I said if Pruitt did this or he didn't do that I'd be convinced he wasn't gonna be our answer.

Both happened and more, and I feel less confident about him today than I have since the day he was announced. But I also know there's more going on in the program as a whole that I know absolutely nothing about than there is things I think I know and/or do know.

Blah blah blah, I don't know if he's the answer or not, it isn't looking good from my couch but I still have 10 more games and a recruiting class to gather more knowledge from and I might be closer to having a better opinion by then.

TBD at a later date.

How would you define the answer?
Because I’m beginning to believe there is no answer

This will all come down to what he’s made of.
If he cannot be beaten he’ll be here for a long time and people will be saying they should give their coaches more time because what happened with CJP.
He didn’t look beaten to me last night when he was telling kids to hold their heads up on the sidelines after the game.
I believe he’s playing the long game. Playing youth and betting that years 3-4 will be better because of the beating he’s talking now.
It will be interesting to see if he survives.

That's a fair question. I would generally define "the answer" as someone who dominates inferior teams, plays equal teams competitively, and has teams that show fight against superior teams. The other metric is a team that improves just as Nebraska and Texas have.

How many points did he not take?

EDIT: Anyone can answer this. I just dont remember us not taking points.

I know there were probably at least 3 that would have more than likely kept us from OT and given us the win. We do have a field goal kicker now!!

That's a good thing too. I've been so scared of not making them in the past that I developed my "go for it on 4th no matter what" attitude.

I'm gonna go start another fire Pruitt thread!😆

Your habit of poor predictions holds. Congrats?

Oh hell yea, I can't predict crap that's why I was trying reverse psychology last night on what was going to happen in the game.

But yea, what else could the question be? Ultimately its to win. Right? I didn't mean that as being a smartass. Break it down any way you want but it all comes down to beat these teams, improve on this so you can win more. Herman and Frost have shown more improvement faster and that automatically means Pruitt ain't the answer. Okay.

Frost and Herman were both successful HC's at other Programs. This is Pruitt's first gig. Probably shouldn't have been, considering the dumpster fire we are and it being the SEC...but it also doesn't mean he can't get it done. Again, I'm not saying I think he can, I just know IF he does, it may take a little longer.

And you may be absolutely correct .

We need you to use reverse Reverse psychology with this team. Lol.

It is win, yes. But even in losses, we can tell there is progress. Example: we improved last night compared to last week.

Perhaps the analogy with Herman and Frost isn't fair to Pruitt. But, he took the job. And these jobs come with insane expectations.
