Pay attention guys, we got a few on the field that are going to quickly become avi material.

Like I said last night, Pruitt is a dead man walking. Am I advocating he be fired now? Absolutely not. Do I think he survives the season? Yes, I don't think fulmer will give up on him after year two. It's his pick so he bears the responsibility. I don't think he survives past next season. Recruiting will tank. The negative recruiting will only ramp up.

He'll probably be forced to make a couple of staff members sacrificial lambs. Which will again affect recruiting. QB is a huge issue. I don't think Bailey is the answer next year although if he sticks and is an EE he may be the best option next year. All I know is that JG is not the answer and if the light hasn't come on by now, the bulbs burnt out. I can't imagine one of the two backups can be any worse. Maybe the Maryland transfer will be a stopgap until Bailey is ready.

I expect we'll win 2-3 this year tops. I think by the end of the gauntlet, the team will have checked out after several humiliating losses. The Jeremy Pruitt era started the slow decent to failure last week and last night insured it.

Last week I thought this way but now I’m thinking the only way out of this hole is to support Pruitt and give him the time for a true rebuild. He’s a far better coach than the last few guys and surrounded by great coaches and all the support staff he needs.

The truth is with a good QB we’re 2-0 right now despite all the other issues. The best players on the team are freshman and sophomores, they wouldn’t even be playing yet at Bama or UGA or Clemson. We’re forced to play them before they’re ready. It’ll be the same way with the 2020 and 2021 classes as well.

There’s no way around this rebuild. Firing Pruitt isn’t the answer. Not this week, in November or next November. He didn’t suddenly become a bad football coach after arriving in Knoxville. Neither did Chaney or any of the other guys.

Recruit, develop and time is the only answer right now. Blowing it up will only delay any progress and no matter who the next coach is the same cycle will occur.

21st in 2018, 13th last year, sitting at 22nd right now and people expect it to get better after an 8 or 9 loss season?

I remember when Pruitt was hired and we were all convinced we'd be recruiting in the top 5 with Bama and Georgia.

I think he could compete at a high level on the trail f he could show results on the field. How manhh highly rated players have said they're waiting to see improvement on the field? After two games what do you think they are seeing? Pruitt's days are numbered, we just don't know what the number is.

Which is why I’m not out on this coaching. Their guys are making plays. Pruitt will get this right but it’s going to take time and patience. We’re at rock bottom and it looks like it is going to have to get worse before it gets better.

Okay boys and girls, this is now what we know after two games...

JG is a tremendous liability and always has been. There has been plenty of argument over the past few years, but there is no doubt now. The kid has literally regressed. The OC now doesn't even have confidence in him to make SEC throws and had to adjust and just run the ball... We had a chance to convert at least 3 TD's last night (in the red zone too many times) if he could do his job, but instead settled for FG's and that in itself, helped in the loss. I hope folks aren't saying he threw a TD because he didn't... he threw an interception that the guy couldn't handle and tipped it into JJ's hands...

There is absolutely no reason not to play the other QB's now and try and show recruits and parents that we've gone total rebuild and they can come and be a part of it... This JUST MIGHT keep Bailey on the hook and not have him jump ship. It may also salvage a few recruits. We keep JG in, and that is on the coaches, makes them look stupid, and will KILL recruiting.

A Taylor-- completely blew it... twice... As bad as things went throughout the game, we still could have walked out with a W, but that one play lost the game...BUT, he is just a sophomore and he is still learning and developing. The only reason I have dogged him is because of the posters on here thinking and saying he is the second coming... he is just AVERAGE right now, but could be good.

Lot of young kids out there last night, learning, giving it their all, and making plays. The O line was much improved and at least gave us a chance. The D was much improved up front and got some push and penetration at times. Made me a little hopeful. Secondary was very disappointing, which was supposed to be one of our strengths I thought...

At this point Pruitt has to make a huge decision and it will be pivotal in his career and chances of turning this thing around. Will be interesting to see what direction he takes. I think it's pretty obvious to the fans what needs to happen, but this is on him and his staff... and FULMER.

I only yelled twice last night, when AT blew the play that cost us the game in regulation, and then again when he blew coverage and let a much larger WR get the angle inside on him right into the endzone for a TD...

My one time was the interception which was absolutely biddy football like. Turned the momentum and gave them life. Triple coverage and do not tell me he did not see that linebacker for he is the same one he throw to for the fluke td. Pitiful

Yeah I saw enough fight last night that I might be willing to get a ticket up to a game this year. The crowd last night was incredible and that’s the kind of stuff recruits love to see

AS I get ready to watch Soroka vs. Sherzer, I see definite similarities between the Braves and the Vols.

The Braves have struggled for several years until this year. They did it by rebuilding from within. They emphasized their farm system (recruiting). San Diego has followed their lead and it’s starting to show. Phillies / Mets / Marlins have done the same. Problem, it takes time and for us fans, we don’t like it.

Anything we say on a message board has little to no impact on what goes on the practice field. I trust CF. I know he wants what is best for the university.

Will recruiting be affected? Maybe by some, but there are many good players who want to come here and play for this staff with the opportunity to play early.

Sit back, relax and hop on board. It’s going to be rough ride for awhile but eventually the waters will calm and we will be back.

There is talent on the this squad. But where it’s lacking is OL & QB.
But there are lesser teams who get more out of the talent then we do AND that is COACHING. whether it’s teaching, information, alignment, tendencies or play calling. There is a huge disconnect in our football program

Shrout and Maurer also have to give the coaches a reason to do that, if they aren’t stepping up in practice and the film room/weight room then it will never happen.

I want JG to sit as much as anyone. On the other hand, if he’s benched, how will he respond? He’s a selfish little pouter. We have seen this not been told this. We bench him then we are down to two QB’s cause he checks out and will not be a good backup who will fight to win it back. Then, we have burned A redshirt for BM cause he will have to play. That doesn’t bother me but with our line, we could see those two kids hurt and JG already checked out. Bet coaches know this as well and maybe that’s why they are hesitant? JG is a little baby.

You may very well be right. I just don't see it that way. I see the recruiting falling off. Neyland will be a ghost town come mid October.

I'm not convinced Pruitt is all that great of a coach. He's never really had to work with lessor talent, do more with less. It's very disturbing to me that the defense still doesn't know how to line up. It's disturbing to me that there are so many blown coverages. You know, the secondary that was supposed to be the strength of the team? All this from a coach that was supposed to be a defensive guru. Does he have great reputation because of the Ferrari he's driving or because of his driving skills?

Like I've said, I'm not suggesting he be fired. I'm not in the tax bracket that my opinion matters anyway, but I'm convinced he will not get it done here. I'm not sure the program can sustain winning 2-3 games this year, 2-5 next year, and maybe win enough for a bowl in year 4.

I don’t think you can worry about that. You have to play the kids who will lead you to victory no matter what. The team will see that he is pouting and the Freshman QB whoever it might be will get the respect of the team as long as he isn’t just a pile of poop.

Dunno how anyone can hate on the coaches. It is easy to see that the guys they have evaluated and recruited are good football players. Heck Henry TooToo almost had the most tackles again except for thanks to The coaches realizing Flowers shouldn’t be starting Theo Jackson led the team in tackles.

Was in that camp last week but they had this ream prepared and they coaches hard and played the young guys. I still am looking to see the product on the field and how well they recruit, and it’s still looks bad but was way better week 2 than week 1. Biggest thing is most guys making plays and looking good are Pruitt’s guys and JJ of course.

Better place than last Sunday but still not convinced he’s going to do it but feel better chance of it today than last week. He’s got to sit JG IMO but like I posted above, maybe they don’t have enough bodies in the QB room if JG is the puss we think he is when the baby doesn’t get his

Come on, man. You know I’ve been around here a long time, since Kiffin hightailed it in the middle of the night. I’ve endured the stink that has been associated with this program for almost 15 years, why would I quit now? I was just trying to lighten the mood. Tennessee is my alma mater… I could never quit on them.

Here's why I say don't put a freshman in.

1. We're 0-2 and likely this season is going to be bad...so why potentially burn a redshirt for Brian, and JT may not be better
2. Young OL will benefit more from a QB who at least knows the offense well enough to put them in the right protections
3. Young OL will likely give up some sacks to stiffer competition, I'd rather JG take those lumps (bad as it sounds) than a young QB who could essentially lose some of his confidence and health from getting smacked too much too soon

Agree, but I wouldn't be opposed to giving one a try this week to see. Unless, that is, the coaches just have no faith in the other 2. And I suspect that's the case. Before the season started everybody here was saying both backups were so much worse than JG that if he got hurt we were screwed, and now one of them is supposed to save the team. If they're that bad it doesn't change just because of JG.

I trust the coaches, who know on each play what the QB was supposed to do and who messed up, who see every minute of practice, who get to looked into the eyes of the QBs, who talk to them, who know what each has to offer, and whose jobs are on the line.
