Thats the point. He knows BMs potential and if he puts him out there there’s a STRONG possibility he runs away with the job.
True but if Maurer gets out there and lights it up do we really care about Bailey at that point? I guess he'd be a great #2 but if Maurer is the truth. I say roll with him and let the chips fall

No... Pruitt is just really green. He comes from the mold of conservative football and in his mind his JR QB gives him the most confidence.

But Jarrett has really tied his hands with ****** play. He has to let Maurer see snaps next week. Before the end of the 4th game (rs). And 4th game is Florida.

So he has to see him on the field next week.
Just saying it wouldn’t surprise me if JTS goes in rather than BM. Pruitt has something to lose by Maurer running away with the job. Plus, like you said, he’s from the mood of conservative. That’s not BM. He’s going to try and humiliate every defense that he lines up against.

He tried I appreciate his toughness and effort but it's time for a change. There's nothing to lose at this point. We've got a couple positives we can work with as sad as it it's got to be all about next season. Stay strong boys no one can question the heart of this fanbase. As long as we remain Tennessee can rise again

Sounds like a winner to me

Shrout is a freshman too.
Same boat as Maurer. Same delima with Harrison coming in.

Pruitt is green.... period

If Maurer lights it up Bailey won’t come here. I mean it would be an ideal situation but both are too good to sit behind one another no matter who starts.

You're giving Pruitt way too much credit dude...

He honestly thinks JG is better....
I know he does. But I’m sorry..... everyone can choose who they want to believe on qb evaluation but I for one will go with our heisman trophy winning qb coach that says BM has the “it”.

It was obvious tonight how much JG is hindering this offense. OL played well. Running game was awesome.

Idk if JG has hit a single receiver in stride in 2.5 years of playing. He has the arm and is usually safe with the ball, but it doesn’t look like he trusts himself to make the throw downfield. It’s like he has to analyze each throw he makes before he throws it and by that time the timing is off and he has to check down.

I do. It’s time to move on. No doubt. But what I’m asking is if (hypothetically) he puts Maurer in and he makes a few bad decisions. Or looks a lot like JG in ways. Do we come unglued on him just the same or do we see the potential and roll with it long enough for him to get settled in?
I'll give him a couple of years, or till HB arrives

I don’t think they go Shrout unless they just want to show attention to the problem. If they do then that tells me JG is going back in at some point.

Ride with Shrout/Maurer no matter the outcome of games . you're gonna lose with JG so there is nothing to lose.

One or both may turn out to be pretty good, if not, it will be easy with Bailey to start the first game with JG pouting somewhere else

I personaly think a mobile qb is much better in college, look at all the top qb's they are very mobile. I don't know about Bailey, is he a dual threat or pure pocket passer?

Pure pocket passer.

Let me say this as well. This wasn’t on Pruitt or Chaney either. I know we’re pissed and it’s Pruitts team but they played inspired football tonight. Chaney seems to be coaching around the qb and that can’t be done any more than when he said he can’t coach around a bad o line.

You are correct. I hope all see that...Pruitt coached his heart out tonight....
The problem Chaney has with JG is that Chaney's play calling is diminished considerably. Chaney can't call plays he would want to because of JG's inability to make certain throws and throwing late a lot of the time...

Time to put the other guys in now.....Pruitt could begin to lose even more fans if he continues to trot JG on the field....Congrats to the fans for showing up tonight...

Pruitt is the problem. But now he is forced to play Brian some next week.
Because if you play Shrout, you will play Maurer as well. They're co backups and JG is do bad that the back ups will have to play.

If Maurer has 200 yards passing 70 rushing and 3tds against Florida, Pruitt would be fired if he put JG out there

Everything should change next week. Because JG is that bad in game.

All don’t see that. There was a “fire Pruitt tonight” thread the moment the game ended.

Ok. You got me there but once BM caught on to the speed of the game I think Pruitt will learn that a gunslinger is an asset by default

I don't care that JG had 10 years per whatever. JG leaves so much out there on the field with throws he doesn't make let alone the ones he does make that are late and behind the receiver. JG needs to go. Go find out what else you have because we know what we have we with JG.

A gunslinger is not an asset by default...

And he's not just a gunslinger. He controls the defense with his arm, legs and tempo. Eventually he will learn to do it with his eyes.

His skill-set is what the asset is. He's a cerebral QB that carries his team.
