Not been on VN in awhile, but Saturday was a gut punch to this die hard fan. As I watched the game unfold, I was in absolute disbelief that our Vols could look so inept, on both sides of the ball. However, I will admit, when we went up 14-7, I felt like "we got this"...thus, there were some initial positives. But by games' end, I was like WTF just happened....do the Vols suck this bad?
Fast forward to today, as I fired up the grill, still wondering, WTF happened? But it all came into perspective. Sometimes you have to get knocked down, to stand back up. You have to be humbled in order to appreciate what you have. You got to be blinded, in order to see what matters. I say all this to put things to rest...at least from my standpoint. The 2019 Tennessee Volunteers ARE better than the team that took the field on Saturday against GSU. The question is, are they good enough to overcome the naysayers, the criticism, self-doubt, arm chair quarterbacks, etc. I think they are. As such, and as an old school fan, I challenge everyone that is questioning their loyalty to the Vols to listen to a few things: 1) a sound bite of the Pride of the Southland marching band belting out "Rocky Top", 2) the Osbourne Brothers singing "Rocky Top", and finally, and the one that did it for me, 3) Kenny Chesney singing "Touchdown Tennessee!". John Ward's game calls just reminded me, that NO MATTER what, I am all VOL! Go Vols!
I do believe that Coach Pruitt will right the ship and will return this program to greatness.
