I don’t care what he says. His play was poor. He’s not giving his all out there, it was plain to see. He’s playing for stats. THROW THE DAMN BALL DOWN THE FIELD! He checked down way too many times. We all saw the game. He didn’t lead his team to victory. He can give all the inspirational speeches he wants but it means less than nothing after losing to Ga FN State.

Ron, it sounds like you're mad at him for not playing up to his talent but let me run this by you - maybe he IS playing to his full ability. Maybe all JG can be is a good game manager. I said earlier, the thing about JG is that he does a lot of things well but that I can't think of any single thing that he does that is great.

It's quite possible, and at this point in his career, even likely, that he's peaked and is always going to be the type of QB that needs a good supporting cast. I don't think he's capable of being the kind of QB that can carry the team on his own. Very few players can do that. We were lucky as hell that Dobbs was one of those few.

It's absolutely in our best interest for Pruitt to turn this around.
As mad as I am, I would like nothing more than for next Saturday to be referred to as "the moment everything changed" in a few years.

If not, afraid I'll be dead before this gets fixed.
Absolutely. My gut tells me he's gonna fail miserably but the best thing is for him to succeed. Him succeeding and then leaving for Bama in a few years is better than the alternative. If he fails we reset yet again and roll the dice on Joe Smith at Wyoming tech.

Not been on VN in awhile, but Saturday was a gut punch to this die hard fan. As I watched the game unfold, I was in absolute disbelief that our Vols could look so inept, on both sides of the ball. However, I will admit, when we went up 14-7, I felt like "we got this"...thus, there were some initial positives. But by games' end, I was like WTF just happened....do the Vols suck this bad?

Fast forward to today, as I fired up the grill, still wondering, WTF happened? But it all came into perspective. Sometimes you have to get knocked down, to stand back up. You have to be humbled in order to appreciate what you have. You got to be blinded, in order to see what matters. I say all this to put things to rest...at least from my standpoint. The 2019 Tennessee Volunteers ARE better than the team that took the field on Saturday against GSU. The question is, are they good enough to overcome the naysayers, the criticism, self-doubt, arm chair quarterbacks, etc. I think they are. As such, and as an old school fan, I challenge everyone that is questioning their loyalty to the Vols to listen to a few things: 1) a sound bite of the Pride of the Southland marching band belting out "Rocky Top", 2) the Osbourne Brothers singing "Rocky Top", and finally, and the one that did it for me, 3) Kenny Chesney singing "Touchdown Tennessee!". John Ward's game calls just reminded me, that NO MATTER what, I am all VOL! Go Vols!

I do believe that Coach Pruitt will right the ship and will return this program to greatness.

My daughter's high school dance team is dancing at the Fair on Saturday and it is an all day affair. Sadly, since the game is at 7:00, I should be home in time to see most of it.
I hate that for you, maybe take your daughter out to dinner to celebrate. Make the reservation for 645 and ask to sit away from the tvs.

I don't think many fans or posters on here fully understand the depth of incompetency that happened Saturday. Let's just take our D, since they lost the game. Pruitt and Ansley could not even get some of their players on the field at the right times. The players did not even know where to line up, much less handle their assignment. They rotated guys in and out faster than a McDonald's drive-thru. We all know how poorly the players performed. Against Georgia State. BYU has the film. BYU held their own for 3 quarters against a top 10 Utah. They had 300 yards O against a quality D. They saw our circus and saw the players reactions to what they saw with each play. You think the staff that "developed" this team to be like this will be able to change it all in less than a week? Add in Bituli and Thompson probably will not play.

I sincerely hope they do turn it around and win. Then we can somehow attribute the worst loss in program history to a bad day at the office. But am I picking the Vols to win - nope.
This . It was an abject failure of every aspect of football. High school teams look better prepared.
