When I was working on the preseason depth chart trying to figure out who was playing where, something hit me. It was another thing that some “anonymous SEC coach” said about the Butch Jones three stars contributing this year. When I was looking at the depth chart, I was stunned at just how many walk-ons and first year guys were everywhere.

The problem for Pruitt is, Kiffin had Fulmer players, Dooley had Kiffin/Fulmer etc., while Pruitt has to dig out of that 2017 4-8 team hole virtually himself. I don’t think a lot of people were prepared mentally for this team to be at 50 quality SEC players in year two.

They thought the staff would come in and turn some sows ears into some silk purses. Not gonna happen. They are recruiters and teachers, not magicians. They are short about eight linebackers as far as I can tell, and they don’t have a #2 TE on the roster yet.

I wanna be upbeat but it looks like what I thought it was gonna be. Just surviving week to week.
