This piss poor effort is all on the coaching staff, esp Pruitt.
We got BYU and Chatt up next to get this ish straightened out before we go to UF.
We should get BT and Bituli back by then.
We saw flashes of what we can do as a team last year against Auburn and UK.
Still pissed about the game but we can bounce back nicely and get in a groove going into Gainesville.
I would much prefer we screw the pooch against GA state if that meant we learn and beat UF.
He broke a gate and made a verbal threat. Cmon man.We don’t need Thompson back anywhere near the program. People that volatile who are too mentally and emotionally unstable to go a year and a half without domestic incidents are nothing but trouble. Good football player, bad person who will likely embarrass whatever university gives him his next chance. We were his second chance and he blew it. Sucks to lose our best DB, but the kid is trouble.
Shawn Elliott looked a fool... and inspired his team to victoryThe energy issue comes from two things.
1. No player stepping up to be the emotional leader on the sideline and in the huddle.
2. The coaches not demanding more from the players. You could tell the energy source for GSU was the coaching staff. They were constantly pushing and willing their players in this game. Nobody in orange was doing that.
Hate thisI also have some of this sentiment. Continuing to fire guys ain't working. We are already at rock bottom, maybe just give him a half dozen years like Mark Stoops and see what happens. As a fan, put it in a box and check on it every now and then for progress. Idk
Stunning that Pruitt has not built this culture. He had the reputation of being a demanding never satisfied hot head and I have not seen fire from him since Auburn of last yearThe one thing that Saban fights more than anything in the way that he has built a program is apathy. Certainly getting great players helps, but that all starts with not being apathetic. And I reference Saban not bc I like him, but bc he’s the best to ever do it. And the reason is bc he’s never satisfied with the current state. He has not even one ounce of apathy and he won’t allow it. Bc once it settles in, how do you get rid of it? How do you make players, an administration, a fan base, a program care when you lose? It’s hard once it settles in.
I don’t want to be lethargic. Vol football is really the one thing I still have left of my father. I just want to be competitive again. I want to share with my son what I shared with my father since he never had a chance to meet him. Kills me to no end when we have these kids that don’t care and poor coaching jobs. Peyton once said it is the most important unimportant thing (Vol football). He’s right. I don’t want to care less. I want them to care more.Hate this
You might be right though. Hopefully I can begin to care less than I do
I applauded the lack of transfers, but now I wonder if there is still too much coddling going on with the team demeanor. The one thing that Saban fights more than anything in the way that he has built a program is apathy. Certainly getting great players helps, but that all starts with not being apathetic. And I reference Saban not bc I like him, but bc he’s the best to ever do it. Merciful night Bruin...I know we don’t want to admit this but butch deserved 5 years. He showed steps forward in every single year leading up to that year that did him in.
This is a new one. Now it appears a head coach in his second year has "checked out". All his years of coaching and his competitive nature and he doesnt want to do this anymore. I've heard it all.If Pruitt has checked out, which appears to be the case, you have to slide Chaney in as interim HC. He’s the most experienced guy on the staff and is smart enough to know what to do to get the ship turned around this year before this gets out of hand
It won’t confirm Pruitt is the guy, but it could confirm he is NOTIf we come out with a fire and stomp BYU, we'll be fine. I'll choose to believe we made the grave mistake of prepping for Florida and taking this game for granted. If we come out and lay down you might as well get ready for the inevitable end. I'm curious to see how the players and coaches respond next Saturday. Will we show some damn pride or just feel sorry for ourselves? Hopefully this lights a damn fire under our ass.
