Because some of them aren't invested. They don't care enough. Either they're just marking time till they graduate or they're just not good enough and pissed about getting passed over or they just don't want to put in the effort. The coaches know who they are and so do the players.

This! There is a pretty good coach over in the western part of the state, almost in Miss.. Norvell is doing pretty good at Memphis, right now they are the best team in Tenn. Pains me to say that..

I hanged on for a long time so I get it, but anybody still thinking this is salvageable is off their rocker. Guys couldn’t substitute or get lined up pre-snap. 101 stuff. It’s unreal.

Exactly. I have not even dived into the specifics of his play, but this one play typifies the whole reason why he has not been successful as a QB at UT.

So many defenders and fans don't see that when JG has positive stats they are directly linked to the way the others performed on that play. He simply hands the ball off or is protected enough that he spots an open guy and gets the ball to him OK. He has no football smarts about his role and no leadership qualities. He is not a difference maker, a creator of success. He's a poor to mediocre role player at the most important position on the field.

Honestly early in the game I thought our defense was kinda flying around. Just not always in the right spot or making the play. As the game wore on we lost that juice. I think they just got their heads down and kinda quit. Coaches can't let that happen again.

They did not for one second respect Ga state going into this game and it showed.

I’ve written a number of posts since last night and haven’t been able to actually post any of them. It doesn’t matter because somebody else has already said about anything anyone could say after yesterday.

I said a couple weeks ago I wasn’t worried about our players; I was more concerned about our coaches. Earlier last week I said I thought the defense would be key to our season and we were starting out in the hole.

I’m shocked and (using Nigel’s word) flabbergasted.

I don’t think Jeremy knows what he’s doing. I really don’t. I think he is in over his head but he has a really huge ego and no matter how many times he looks in the mirror or pseudo takes responsibility he’s still going to do things his way. jmo.

How do you recover from something like this?

I would find the absolute minimum number of players required on each side of the ball that I could trust the most and that I had some hope that they still had some trust in me. It probably wouldn’t be more than 15 guys on each side. Those are the guys I’d prepare with and those are the guys I’d play with. Everyone else could watch or quit if they wanted to. As the season progressed we might have another 3 or 4 players step up to join that first group but I’d start with the least number to begin with.

One last thing. We’re not going to quit. Not you and me. I mean we’re so upset right now we could each probably rip a gate off its hinges. Side note – be careful about any verbal threats. Some of us may take a couple hours off or maybe even a couple of days but almost everyone will still be here next week and beyond. We are Tennessee and even though we’re embarrassed and perhaps disgusted beyond belief right now we’re not really going to give up. We never do. Not the fans. Not you or me. jmo.

That’s the problem, the whole hearted fans have never given up, and you’re right, we won’t. We just want someone, anyone on that staff or players to give as much damn as we do.

Look at the bright side boys. Pruitts kids are signing rocky top this morning and we get to gush over him working with a specific position next week at practice. We finally got a real football coach that isn’t going anywhere.
