Had that first 115 mph fastball he threw to Chandler not been behind LOS that would have been called a n interception too. Georgia State guy caught it.
That was on Chandler. Whether he fumbled it behind the line or 20 yards down the field, he had possession and coughed it up. Added tragedy of that was it made Chaney go gun shy on him and took a weapon out of the gameplan.

JG sadly is a “fantasy stat” QB it appears.

65% 311 yds 2 TDs 1 INT

Great game right? 😖

I will take Dobbs and his 54% with 186 yds and the W back over this mindset any day.

Remember Dobbs played in that 13-13 regulation game vs App St oh but the defense showed up...28-19 Ohio game...but the defense showed up...31-24 vs south alabama was him or worley, but again defense did enough...34-19 vs ark st defense did their job...24-0 North Texas, enough said...

Follow the common demoniator. Equating Ws for a QB to how well the defense did or did not do...

Whoever the coaches believe gives us the best chance of winning should be the QB. I fully believe that's what the coaches do and will do. I don't give a hoot what year he is. Don't start him because he's freshman. Don't keep him on the bench because he's a freshman. Hate of JG aside, we have NO reason to believe the other guys give us a better chance of winning.

Point is.if they were to complete a pass past the 10 yard marker then as a freshman they are already Better than JG.Aside Being a Freshman😁🤘🏽

Correct. All we really know is what we saw in the spring game, and while they both have skills and abilities, neither was beating out JG because of his experience.

I like what I saw from Mauer and he’s got moxey, he’s a gunslinger but he’s extremely careless with the football. Hopefully, they can have him ready soon rather than later.

Somebody has to make the tackles. Every play that’s not a TD has a tackler
Is there a highly recruit player on the roster that you haven’t contrived a negative narrative on? Of all the failure I saw on the field yesterday, his jersey number never came up. First game first start and he represented very well.

Correct it will be more worrisome if the coaches don’t identify who should be starting after rewatching tape before the BYU game.
Don't know who else you can turn to on the DL. They are who they are this year, but being so green they should get better. Bituli and (hopefully) BT will add needed playmakers and leadership. Offense has to gel better and Chaney gotta dial up more shots than all those screens yesterday. At least wheel route them one time.

Effort and determination will only go so far if we can't even line up properly.
I think constantly subbing had some affect on lining up incorrectly. The coaches were trying to be too cute on defense. You've had spring, summer and fall camp to find your players. Surely you have starters in mind. Time for scrimmaging is over.

I actually believe that JG is looking out for himself only. That dive yesterday that came up short, those check downs were automatic completions he could add to his stat sheet. He did nothing to attempt to win the game for us. It was very selfish play on his part.

Exactly. I have not even dived into the specifics of his play, but this one play typifies the whole reason why he has not been successful as a QB at UT.

So many defenders and fans don't see that when JG has positive stats they are directly linked to the way the others performed on that play. He simply hands the ball off or is protected enough that he spots an open guy and gets the ball to him OK. He has no football smarts about his role and no leadership qualities. He is not a difference maker, a creator of success. He's a poor to mediocre role player at the most important position on the field.

I appreciate people looking for bright spots, but the simple truth is that, in terms of the game/team we saw yesterday, there are none. Now, we have good, young talent and maybe we get decent by the end of the year, or next year... but as of right now we are really, really bad... plain and simple.

I could go on for days about this but I’ll keep it simple. Here are his stats from high school till his sophomore year of college..The percentage numbers some of these people put up on here and drool over are nothing because they don’t follow with a “W” JG has always been a stat QB,he’s about him and just trying to improve his draft stock that’s it and it won’t happen. He still has the it’s about “Me” butch jones loser mentality.Hes a straight selfish loser with no fight or fire in him.he goes out there for 3 downs because he has too and comes back to sit down on the side lines with ZERO energy even after his f*** ups.

The two areas he’s improved are in my opinion staying in the pocket while the pocket is collapsing and for the first time in 3 years yesterday dude ran the ball just too keep the defense honest, which he needs to do more often but won’t.other than that he’s straight A$$ and still doesn’t read a defense.you can check out, check in and switch whatever you want but if it’s a bad Protection switch then you get exposed and he Generated nothing for the offense yesterday.Nothing.but you are right he is a abused dog.
He could've ran for a 1st down and a touchdown a couple of times yesterday.
