Considering Pruitt's buyout this early in his contract is it possible for Fulmer to demote CJP to a lesser position other than head coach? It's clear now that he isn't and will likely never be actual head coach material so could Fulmer demote him to say linebackers coach and not have to pay the buyout. Let Chaney take over the head coach position and be the boss of the team without paying Pruitt's buyout. If so then I think this would be a good way to go and with Pruitt's super ego could he handle this demotion or be forced to resign in which case no buyout. Just asking.

It’s possible but Pruitt’s ego is too big for that. Don’t know that I recall if/when a HC has been demoted/still remained on staff due to performance reasons.

Doubtful. His contract is for the HC gig, demoting him would most likely be the same as dismissing him without cause in terms of his contract as he would no longer be the head coach.

It would be destructive to the program to demote, and unfair to whomever took the HC's job. He would get pressure from above and below.
