I lived in Orlando for a decade and no hurricane ever went through central Florida. They all bounced away. So I just assumed Disney had some sorta deflector.
Lol...we had to evac to Orlando in 2004 because Charley had us in his bullseye, and we lived right on Boca Ciega bay in St Pete just 3 ft above waterline...then Charley took his famous right hook just a couple of hours from hitting Tampa Bay, and tore diagonally up the penninsula toward us...we were in spitting distance of Diz and the eye went straight over us. A massive chunk of the hotel roof flew off and squashed my dads brand new Chevy Venture...I will never forget that..it was still a strong Cat 1 when it hit there.

Yeah maybe I was the deflector. I moved back to Chattanooga for 6 months in 2004 and central Florida had 2 or 3 hurricanes criss cross that fall. I visited Orlando the weekend after Charlie. Some power workers were down from Georgia to help get the power back on and tried to fight me and a couple of my friends at our regular bar because we wouldn't let them hit on the girls we were with. They learned. I eventually had 2 of them in a headlock and my buddy came running from the parking lot and shoulder tackled all 3 of us through the glass into the bar. We landed under the pool table. They got up and ran back to their hotel. Hahaha I got up and the bartender brought me a drink.

I wish. Wife used to. We come 2-3 times a year. Feels like a second home to me.
I use to fly to midway alot via southwest. Straight shot from Nashville. Bout a 50 min flight, jump on the orange line straight downtown check in hotel. Time to leave Orange Line drop you back off right at Midway
