If you scroll down, he has a point to be made. Versus G5 teams last year we scored 24 vs utep and 14 vs Charlotte. Don't think he's saying it's a test where "fail" is losing, only that scoring 14-24 would show a lack of progress. Though a 1 game test is sort of silly, when you're paying someone $1.5m, immediate results are usually expected.
In short, a poor headline for sure, but not an unreasonable point.
What a headline! Journalism these days is terrible.
Chaney's offense gets early test as Vols host Georgia State
If we can't run the ball tomorrow we might as well shut it down. GA State I believe was statistically the worst, or very close to the worst, D1 CFB team last year.Only thing that would make me worry for the season is if we can’t run the ball tomorrow. If we can’t run the ball against GSU then we are in trouble.
This is what I was getting at. It is game one, and we have to play someone. Saying that it is an "early test" is comical to me. If that's the case, playing ETSU would be an early test as well.
It's not wrong though. We couldn't score against anyone -- even the little guys -- last year (and the two years prior if we're honest).
Great...I have three herniated discs in my neck, and stenosis...thanks for reminding me how bad it could get..also no insurance..and that was in 2005, the last time I had MRIs on my neck...
Now you all know why I'm so grumpy, I live in constant mind numbing pain..it literally never stops..
I don't think the author understands the term meritocracyInteresting article on the current state of youth sports and how it affects college sports

Was just gonna post anything under 250 rushing would be a disappointment.Ga St was 128th of 130 teams in YPC allowed last year at a whopping 6.56 YPC.
Definitely had some variance there (held NC St to 115 on 32 carries) but mostly sucked (410 on 35 carries vs Memphis and 228 on 39 carries vs App).
I'd venture a guess of 32 carries for 250. A few breakouts, but mostly a strong "Success Rate" and low "Stuff Rate" is what my eyes will be on.
