Pruitt’s Leadership

This isn’t meant to be a bash Jones thread. This is more of a pro Jeremy Pruitt thread. We can be critical as fans, as people. Both coaches cared immensely about their players. We haven’t seen Pruitt under the pressure Jones was yet, but we have seen some of Pruitt in the spotlight.

I think there are many reasons Pruitt is not only a good coach but a leader. Pruitt’s tears last year will not be forgotten by me. He knew how bad our team was. He understood the questions. Instead of lashing out at reporters he showed his emotions, he owned them and he didn’t make excuses. He commended his team for their effort.

Where do you all think Pruitt has shown leadership so far? Or are you convinced yet?
Real football coaches don't do that. Science.

To answer you question, as to how I'd view CJP if in my opinion he isn't the coach I thought he was, nor the coach to return UT to being a TOP SEC TEAM, then I'd quickly be on the new coach train. With that said, I believe we have the first real Football Coach we've had in years. The problem with the dooley/boy butch fan boys is/was they would rather UT not win a single game year after year, before they would even consider their love for dooley/boy butch could be hurting our program. I'm still amazed at how many fan boys butch had, his year five (his team) told all.

And im amazed at the fan boys for every new coach that comes along. Even ones who have zero experience as a head coach. Even ones who only habe a losing season on their resume. Even ones whose team quit on them in the last two games of said losing season.

Personally i hope CJP is the answer but other than blind hope there is little indication he is.

And you are willfully blind if you do not see the things that Pruitt is doing that are different than at least the last 3 coaches we have had. The jury is still out on Pruitt for sure but lets not act like he has not already demonstrated a lot of the skills necessary to rebuild a once great program back to being a serious competitor.

glad that Coach/AD Fulmer is around to curb some of Coach Pruitt's sideline antics...I just don't want him to get too stupid...kids and parents watch the games also...absolutely do not, I repeat, absolutely do not grab players by the helmet and berate them on the sideline...keep your cool and coach them up without all the unnecessary drama to be seen around the nation...and...

GO BIG ORANGE!

I take it you don't watch Saban on the sidelines much. He will turn the air blue...and get a little physical, too. Seems to work for him.

CDD did diferent things also to no avail
CBJ did things differnt, again to no avail

Doing things different than your predecessor/s does not guarantee success.
Your team appearing to quit the last two games of the season...well it doesnt guarantee anything but it sure is a bad look.

It isnt because they are different, they are BETTER. Not gimmicks but sound fundamental building blocks. Lets keep in mind that Pruitt had to pull this together at the last minute in his first year as a HC. This past offseason, however, he has no excuses, its all on him. What has he done?

Coaching upgrades at the positions of greatest need? check
Recruiting at a high level? check - jury is still out on this for this year - but last year, in a total clusterF when early sign period. - in spite of all that Needs was #1 247 Recruiter of the Year - when Pruitt pulled Niedermeyer from the bowels of bubba admin no one had ever heard of this guy, now look at him.
Actually coaching and prep of the players? no dancing and prancing, back to teaching low level mechanics to help our guys excel on the field. Sure Pruitt has aleways had great talent to work with but he recruited a lot of that talent and that talent almost always left him better than it entered (something that cannot be said for Butch)
Weight room? check. We have heard how its all changed several times but in bringing in a notorious trainer like Fitz - but look at the results, the beef is finally starting to be on the field.
Game day? unknown for sure - flashes of brilliance last year and some frustration. Now with Chaney there, he can let off the O a bit and focus his rage from the whiteboard to the defense.

Again, no sure thing but there are a lot of things DONE THE RIGHT WAY, not merely differently, if one is willing to look.

Those last 2 games vs Mizzou and Vandy were a horrible look for Pruitt. Those were humiliating beatdowns. Unacceptable on any level. Shameful really. Especially after showing they had the talent to beat Auburn and Kentucky. Does a great coach have a team just quit on him like that? Jury still out with me. If not for those horrific last 2 beatdowns I'd be more entrenched in his corner. I mean...I'm totally rooting for him to succeed...but man.

You mean other than Pruitt’s 5* staff, top notch recruiting, real S&C program, faster bigger stronger players at key positions, legit player development, and fistful of NC rings as a top DC? Yeah you’re right nothing but “blind hope” there. You’re not even a good troll dude try harder

Every coachs S&C program is the greatest. Until it isnt.

Not a troll but for fan boys that is probably difficult to see. What should be plain to see is we still have an unproven head coach. One things for certain, by December we will know what kind of coach we have.

No fan boy here. No crystal ball either so I can’t see how many games we’ll win by Dec and neither can you nor anyone else. What I CAN see is the absolute complete definitive improvement in our program players and team across the board. Especially in our S&C RESULTS. But you enjoy your nega-day.

Why is it negative to be honest and not starry eyed by the newest coach. A coach who happened to be about number 8 on the ask list? A coach who few if any other schools offered? A coach whose team quit on him the last two games of the season and this came after upsetting two, at the time, Top 10 teams?

Fan boy away. As of now CJP has done nothing to prove he is the right choice. Maybe he will be and i hope and pray he is successful. But where we are today there is no tangible proof of that.
