Been thinking about this today...

Who’s your surprise (i.e. least talked about) player on offense and defense that will be talked about as being pivotal to success this year. Offense is hard we seem to talk a lot about everybody.

O - Jahmir Johnson
D - Matthew Butler

Offense is Kennedy. Continuity and maturity at C is really needed. Not sure with Chaney’s offense, but in some schemes the center makes almost as many calls at the line as the QB.

Defense is Darrell Taylor. I think he’s been glossed over a lot this fall, and especially so in relation to how big I year I personally believe he will have.

O - Tyler Byrd/Brandon Johnson (both senior WRs that should see great match-ups with Palmer, Callaway, DWA, and JJ eating up attention)
D - Not sure, seems most guys have been talked about...I'd lean towards a DL not named Solomon (Emerson or Butler) but for some reason I think Deandre Johnson is going to have a productive season

Those are solid picks.

Ubben had ainge on his podcast today. The beginning was all about Bryce and wasn't really anything interesting. But ainge had some insightful things about the oline communication and calls as well as on jg. Not sure if it's free or not but was a good listen.

This one isn't. The podcast will have 2 entries per week with the first of each week being free and the second, which will have guests, will only be available to subscribers. I listened to the first one and thought it was good.

A link would be helpful.

Good lord.... Starship Troopers..... also give me more info than that!
Ah, haha I mean mostly stuff we kinda know but he went into more detail about how it works in the huddle and at the line and how much better we should be with all of that stuff this year. It was just pretty interesting to listen to from someone who knows how it works at that level. I wouldn't do it justice if I tried to paraphrase.

Fine....

@bignewt BYU had a top 30 rush and pass defense last year and return 8 starters on defense as well as 9 starters on offense.

Uh oh.
33rd overall by S&P+. Respectable. 6 of our opponents (Auburn, Bama, uga, uf, uk, mizzou) last year ranked higher, for reference.

But 85th in defensive returning production.

Balances out a bit.

Yessir it's going to be a great game! Should be a fun atmosphere
