Catcher is an extremely important position. Watching y’all devalue it is embarrassing. Great defensive catcher, handles pitching staffs well, calls a good game, more than adequate at the plate. Will push for 30 HRs, and 40 doubles. Can you imagine subtracting Tyler freakin Flowers and adding that to our team?


I’d really feel good about winning it all.

Those dudes go downhill quick. Look at Johnathan Lucroy. Dude was the big trade piece at catcher a few years back and I’d have to google who he plays for now

I’d take .280 25 BOMBS, 40 dubs in a slow year, every year.

I don’t need 10 years, I just need 3 to 4 years like this one.

Are we exponentially better if you swap and Flowers and Realmuto?


Do you like our chances in October with Realmuto over Flowers begins the plate?

Do you like a lineup in the playoffs with: Acuna, Albies, Swanson, Freeman, JD, and Realmuto?

At some point we have to push the chips in the middle and roll the dice a bit.

It probably would have had to be Riley and Soroka/Fried/Anderson and I’m just not doing that.

Why you arguing hypotheticals? We don’t overpay. We look for value. It’s just who we are. That’s why we will resign Cervelli on the cheap for a one or two year deal and pray locker room Shea or Jackson/Contreras ever becomes average. You know this Scott.

And you’re right, it’s why we will perennially be a piece or two away from being good enough to win a World Series (w/o requiring everyone on the roster to have the fall of their lives.) Wish we could be the Astros gonna step on your throat add Greinke at the deadline, but that’s OK.

Maybe I just really hate having Tyler Flowers as a catcher.

Not mutually exclusive. We could’ve addressed the catcher position without overpaying for Realmuto. I, for one, will continue to complain about Flow. Hell, just keeping Zuk and adding BMac would’ve been better.

Yeah the problem was not acquiring Realmuto the problem was keeping Flowers.
