'20 GA ATH Arik Gilbert (LSU commit)

Georgia Tech will probably never be a consistent playoff contender because of the academic standards but Collins will have that team consistently in the 8-9 win range every year with a team that could win the ACC every few years or so. They’re in too good of a talent hotbed for some kids to not start staying home. Only thing that will hold them back from that next level is the academic standards and the fact that their university doesn’t put anywhere near the emphasis on athletics that UGA/Clemson/etc do
Stanford does well and is an academic first school. If GT strings together some winning seasons coupled with good bowl wins, they’ll be able to improve recruiting. The main issue is Collins getting his players. Imo he’s in for a rough transition.

All the Gilbert to Bama stuff is smoke same as the Washington adding Bama back into his top 3 then 5

Kirby needs to manufacture recruiting wins against his biggest competitors. If they are already in the boat then what’s the point. These are Kirby swoops in with his recruiting progress and wrangles the recruit from the arms of the competitor types of deals.

GT has had the same number (5) of WR drafted into the NFL as TN has since 2007 (the year Calvin Johnson was drafted). Calvin Johnson & Demaryius Thomas have had more NFL success than any TN WR has had for a long time.
Well look what the cat dragged in...

Think the biggest pull for GT is Engineering. Check the ranking on that..
It is, they do have a good engineering school, Very few football players take engineering, especially at Tech. Being the #35 school in America is impressive in itself.

Most UGA fans, including myself, don't think Gilbert is coming to UGA. IMO you are over thinking this one. His interest in UT is real.

I agree. Paul Johnson was an excellent football coach, but the triple option offense basically insured that very few blue chip recruits would end up at Georgia Tech. It's almost inevitable that GT's results will be terrible for the next 2-3 years during the transition.

I think of it like Mike Leach's transition at Wash State. It took Leach till Year 4 to get enough of his guys in there to win consistently. GT is in one of the nation's biggest recruiting hotbeds (unlike Wash State), so they can be a national power if they do things right, but it's brutal following a guy who was a top-notch coach, but recruited weaker talent.

I know one of the football players that went there specifically for the engineering program in 2014, but switched to business after a year, I think. Engineering was too hard.

A strong GA tech will be like a cancer to UGA, I hope they have a lot of success

Evan Ingram skill set with Colt Lyerla type athleticism. I just hope if the good guys are able to pull him in he plays with that Lyerla type mentality on the field
Just need to find someone to get him the ball...does ole Mitch Mustain have any eligibility left?
