Dooley has proved that he has a great offensive mind but just because he is a great OC does not mean he is a good HC. Pruitt could be in the same boat if he doesn't produce here or somewhere else.

No, Dooley wasn't a great coach but I think he is a better X and O coach than Butch and the offense we had under him was IMO more likely to succeed in the SEC. I don't think he had defensive issues either. If you'll remember Justin Wilcox and a bunch of other assistants bailed out (does anyone know why for certain?) and like Butch with Larry Scott, Sal Sunseri was the best he thought he could get. I'm not saying I want DD back. The lack of relationships with high school coaches and not landing a single OL for a year are inexcusable.

Lemme see if I understand. You're saying you wish Dooley were still here? The only upside to that I can see is the de-emphasis of football.

In hindsight, I think Chaney had more to do with the offense being good than Butch. Chaney really helped turn Crompdaddy into a pretty good QB in the second half of the 2009 season. I honestly wasn't all that impressed with Chaney and his offenses during the Dooley years; rolled up gigantic numbers against bad defenses for the most part, then wilted/Bray throws a bunch of INTs against good ones. Although we did actually score a ton of points against some good defenses in 2012.

Yea I don't think so.. Dooley hired Sunseri and then didn't get any O line commits his last year. Also his recruiting in general is said to have began to suffer... story has it he never even gave Jalen Ramsey a visit. Instead I believe a grad assistant or some bs was sent to talk to Ramsey. Cowboy WR's also talked trash about him when he was with Dallas. Dooley is a character but he definitely isn't ever gonna be national championship head coach.

#1 - it's not a fact. It's a hypothesis. Facts are things that have happened and can be proven. Hypotheses are best guesses at what might happen under certain conditions. In this case, hypothetical conditions that will never actually occur.

#2 - insulting Mike DeBord in that manner is childish.

#3 - can't agree with your point on stablity and discipline. Dooley was in the habit of throwing his players under the bus for a laugh from the reporters. Won't get much loyalty from the lads doing that. And without loyalty, you get no discipline. Without discipline, no stability. The wheels were falling off if Dooley stayed on.

#4 - 6-7, then 5-7, then 5-7 does not indicate any kind of upward trend.

In summary: you're on meth, dude. Heh.

Any coach that doesn't recruit an OL in one recruiting cycle isn't winning sh!t. Someone may have already stated a similar sentiment but DD was a clown and this league was way over his head.

The downfall of all these head coaches excluding Kiffin can be traced im large part back to bad coordinator hires.

Our suffering as a fanbase lies at the feet of a Pickle, Buddy Hackett, a Swim Coach, and we currently have a Jethro running things with the defense.

This job was way too big for Dooley & Jones. Both realized it, Dooley after 2 seasons, Jones after 4. Neither would have won anything here.

Dooley was a more likable guy who probably admits he screwed up his time at Tennessee while Butch on the other hand comes across as petty and arrogant.

He believed “his” expectations were good enough for the program and that’s what cost him his job.
