My biggest hope, other than for the well-being and rehabilitation (if needed) of the parties involved, is that the decision-makers (District Attorney, Judge, Administration at UT) treat Bryce the same as if you or I were presenting with a clean criminal record charged with a misdemeanor at his age. At worst, he should be placed on diversion, do some probation, anger management, community service, restitution for the gate, fines/court costs, and assuming he does those things, his charges would be dismissed and his record expunged.

That's what would happen with John Doe UT Sophomore. Let's hope the DA or UT Student Affairs don't get on a power trip and treat him differently because his names is in the news or on their timeline and because people care more than normal what happens to him because he's good at football.

And this is where we're at. Like I said last night, the HC and AD have decided on their course of action. They've talked to BT, discussed with admin and legal and made their decision. He has been suspended pending investigation. The second hurdle is UT. He will be sanctioned for student misconduct, so it all comes down to whether those sanctions are in line with UTAD's. Normally, they are. So we've come full circle. This is exactly what was said Sunday AM before the rush to judgment and media speculation.

I was just addressing the zero tolerance claim made by someone else. I'm all for getting the facts and getting teenagers the help they need to become productive adults. Everything said in that dorm on Saturday night needs to be investigated and verified.

But again, the issue isn't going to be the court case; it's going to be UT.
Which is what I’ve been saying from the beginning.

The University is going to be the problem.

My daughter's 23! She's beginning to think I'm alright lol. Even apologizes for her teenage years when she was wonderful as far as teenagers go.
Glad to hear there's hope that words aren't falling on deaf ears. I've got three between 14 and 20 and it sometimes feels like everything is either stonewalled or an argument.

On average, I work about 10-12 domestics every 2 weeks. This is going to sound crazy to some of you, but domestics and violent crimes are my favorite type of call to work, it's my niche. I love having to discern through the b.s. that people are telling me and get down to corroborating statements and evidence. It can be an extremely difficult task because, many times, both parties share the blame, especially when intoxicating substances are in play, and it can be difficult trying to discern who the "primary aggressor" is...

What concerns me most about this situation are the people who say he did nothing wrong.

How? In what way is any part of this ok?

We have a history of threatening statements towards women, orders of protection, etc. Now we have an alleged threat to shoot an entire school.

You can sit there and tell me it's all b.s. but not a one of you would trust this young man to be alone with a female loved one.

If there's one thing I've gleaned from victims, this is simply the first time the young lady called, not the first time it happened.

And yeah, he'll probably have the charges dropped because you can't have a crime if the victim doesn't show up for court or, as in what happens in 90-95% of most domestic cases, she'll show up to court, back in love and singing his praises...it doesn't mean he did nothing wrong.
Holy crap...I just saw Solomon got cleared (night shift)!!!

WGWTFA!!!
Might be among the best back to back posts in a long time.

Relevant some what but mostly just in general, have you heard enough to form an opinion on the new chancellor?
If so..Pro sports, an annoyance or just not very involved?

GUYS! We are 3 freaking days until its FOOTBALL TIME IN TENNESSEE!
I ordered two 32in tvs to go next to my 65in in my Tennessee Man Cave so I can watch as many games as possible. They're arriving Friday, can't wait to get it all set up.

THREE DAYS UNTIL WGWTFA

I don't think anyone has said he didn't do anything wrong. What has been said is it is being reported that he physically assaulted her which is not true. Basically, we do not know who said what when. All we know is they were screaming at each other, he tore the gate apart, and the police were called. Just because she backs his story doesn't mean she is lying. From what I understood she isn't the one that called. The shoot the school up may or may not have happened, and if it did did he really mean that. The order of protection went both ways. What concerns me most about the situation is people are making judgments when they do not know the facts. We need someone like you that can discern what happened and decide appropriate punishment. Not the press sending out Tweets to fan flames. If they find that he did actually hit her or really is capable of shooting up the school take appreciate measures. If he just has an anger problem where he yells and screams get him help. But he should not be kicked off the team because of pressure from the press.
Plenty of people have said stuff like, "nothing to see here," "make him run some stairs," "he said, she said" These types of statements mean they don't think it's a serious offense. It is.

Generally, the university and UTAD would be in agreement based on the facts of the case. When SAs are involved, the rush to judgment and media stoning sometimes causes them to be treated more harshly than other first offenders, like @JCLawyerVol pointed out.

The University could feel pressured. Something an actual court of law would not.

Is there even a presumption of innocence in the student conduct investigation ? Does it simply come down to a preponderance of the evidence?

I've only met her once. I don't get the impression she's going to be strongarming much regarding athletics. I think Fulmer, Charlie and Randy Boyd will continue to carry the clout there.

Boyd for sure not taking the gig permanently?
