The media backlash and negative publicity brings unwanted attention to the program in the post Title IX-lawsuit era. He changed his story about the gate and that's on record. His GF's statement included a few things that would have been better left unsaid. While it won't really impact his court case, it could hurt him with UT, especially with so many people weighing in. But again, if they wanted to cut him loose, they could have done that for violation of team rules.
I dont understand why UT players are held to different standards. Jeffrey Simmons was on video beating a woman, and State kept his commitment....3 years ago. Can UT players not argue with women?

But again, the issue isn't going to be the court case; it's going to be UT.

I’ve expected this to be the largest hurdle since the beginning. The media is on their usual witch hunt. Will UT stand firm and truly investigate, or will they just throw BT to the mob to make the headlines go away?

There was nothing in that stupid thread about violence. It was a few "I heard that he had issues from a brother-in-laws sisters stepdads aunts boy" blah blah blah...

This is ridiculous...hell if you guys really knew how horrible I really WAS 20 years ago (and that is not hearsay, that is straight from me) most of you would want me banned from VN.
Hey did you see the new report out that he was issued a restraining order in 2018 for threatening to kill a girl and whoever she was dating and that he had choked, hit, and verbally abused her.

Hurts to be right sometimes.

I think the word "assault" being used nowadays in all the legal jargon when stuff like this happens, is a big part of why so many people overreact so badly. The images the word conjures in the mind are awful.

It is why anti-gun nuts like to use the term "assault rifle"...It scares ignorant people.

Just some random musings..

How we view the word assault is pretty irrelevant when there a quotes like this out there

“he has a history of violence against me and others. He has physically slapped me, choked me, and thrown me around. I fear for my safety, and am constantly looking over my shoulder.”

I don't think it hurts you, you seem to be enjoying it..And no, I saw hearsay.

Assault Weapon is the term that scares ignorant people. Assault Rifle already had a definition before they started applying the term to any black, scary, vaguely military looking rifle.

I get that. I certainly don't want someone that abuses women to go unpunished! I am just not sure how well established this is. It's obvious we're coming at it from two different experiences. You have dealt with the abused. I have dealt with my son being falsely accused. All I am saying is let the ones doing the investigating handle it. The press saying Pruitt has some explaining to do and insinuating he has to dismiss him right now is ridiculous because their reporting as though he has a history of beating women when all we know is he may have threatened 2 women on 2 occasions. And, yes, I am aware that that is usually the first step. But maybe he can be helped.
He had an option during this incident to physically assault his girlfriend and instead vented elsewhere. Maybe because he had something to lose? Take that something away and how have you improved lives?

Thanks for admitting I'm right.

Actual proof of a restraining order isn't hearsay.

In the end, either the coaching staff and Fulmer think he's too much of a loose cannon, based on a history of violence that they know more about than we do, and he has to be dismissed, or they think it's just anger management issues that can be helped through counseling and he remains on the team.
