Hubbs has been among the best at covering the Vols for many years. He's a fan but also a reporter/journalist/businessman. He's good at what he does and I enjoy his work and trust his reporting...........just not going to pay for it.
I know, I know......its Brent Hubbs but, please , please sweet baby Jesus if the possibility of Solomon and Trey Smith discussed in the first minute is true it would mean the world to me and numerous volunteer faithful across this beautiful land.

I don't think it is a motivational thing. Chaney is a perfectionist and he knows how critical the line play is for the success of this year's offense. The rest of the offense is much more advanced and he feels they don't need extra work. Playing tackle is much different than the interior line positions, so it is not uncommon to see them coached separately. If you read the reports, Chaney will work with the tackles for awhile while Friend works with the interior linemen. They would then switch. As far as we know, he may have done the same thing at Georgia. Maybe that is why their line is what it is.Maybe Chaney is simply being hard on the OL, but from what I have read, it seems our OL has some serious motivational/focus issues. They have been working with Friend for a long time now and still are showing up for practice needing an earful. Could be because we have a couple of Freshman in the mix and they are having to coach them harder.

Another point, We only get a summary of a small part of the full practice. We don't know what happens the rest of the time.
I think if people want to stay positive this year, then they need to be realistic. I am sure our OL and DL will feel Smith and Solomon respectively, but based on the loss of four DLs from last year in addition to the loss of Buchanan, Kirkland, Thompson and Gooden all of which come from a terrible returning Defense, I think it is incredibly unrealistic to have any sort of expectations for this years’ Defense. Solomon apparently is recently wearing a brace. He and our team would have been better off with him playing next year.

Could be because we have a couple of Freshman in the mix and they are having to coach them harder. Hope that’s all that means. We will have three 5-star talents on that line, however. So, I am more optimistic about this OL and the offense than I am this defense. We quite possibly could see something similar to what Chaney experienced the first time at UT. Great O, poor D.
Don’t get me wrong. I am very hopeful. I think we have a great defensive staff. Ansley has never been a coordinator, but Pruitt more than likely will fill that void. We will get there with this staff, but this year I mainly hope to see a lot of progress and development. I will be happy with 6-7 wins this year and some close games and us looking stronger than weaker by the end of the year. If our staff can get this depleted D and growing offense to 7-8 wins that includes a bowl game w, we should all feel very good. It won’t be super exciting, but generally happy works for me.
If we see some emergence and continued growth in our receiving corps, we should be really good next year, but we would have been even better with Solomon next year.
I pray that Smith’s lungs holds up.
Yeah man, Buchannan, Thompson and Gooden were producers. Kirkland would have been awesome but he was never physically developed the way Fitz can and got hurt playing against the big boys. A shame. The DL was OK they just had no time to rest. We will see but I think we feel the loss this year.So you worried about losing players with the exception of Thompson ( maybe) that really didn't contribute much? I see a lot more depth on the DL this year and I look for it to be better.
