I was almost convinced this was the case initially just based on the fact that the police didnt charge him with anything along those lines. The DA charge will easily go away for a first time offense.

I wouldn’t call it PC. More lawyer talk. They’re talking about this setting a precedent for how the school will handle accusations of violent threats made by a student. They’re looking at it very black and white, and while I personally do not think it’s a big deal at all, I get why the school has to be very careful here.

In some institutions, anytime there is a threat assessment, it is protocol to suspend until the investigation is complete. Could have less to do with optics, and more to do with following an established process.
