I’m happy for those Elite tackles we have but dang things are gonna have to click early if Tennessee wants to win 8+ this year.

Don't know if Gaither ever had the level of smoke around him that Peterson has though. Peterson was supposedly strong to Georgia until a bunch of questions came up as to whether he'd be academically eligible, so we got him. Once we got him, there was some work that had to be done to get him eligible here (that part was publicly known and well-documented), and when he finally showed up on campus in the middle of the season last year he supposedly had put on weight and was really out of shape. He had a shoulder problem in spring ball this year, and here we are a year later and he's buried on the depth chart. In these practice reports that come out, Peterson either hasn't been there or is working out separately, away from the other LBs in a bunch of them. Every bit of news that comes out about him, either rumor/speculation or confirmed, isn't encouraging.

I know he's still just a redshirt freshman, but I'd be really surprised if he ever ends up being a productive player for us.
Yeah I don't recall much either. A lot has happened in 15 years. I do remember many UT fans calling Gaither a bust though.

Reported before the season. Other than that...nah everything in your post was crap. 😏

Most of that is pretty accurate. I believe he had that injury prior to coming here but the added weight never helps. Add in being out of shape and things arent looking good. At times it seems like he wants it and other times it seems like he just casually goes through practice. Imo that’s why he’s getting passed on the DC

More recently, Darrell Taylor was buried down the depth chart his first 2 seasons at UT. Now, he's one of only a few players solidly entrenched as a starter on D. The only real difference is that Taylor wasn't expected to contribute much early and he didn't get as much publicity and fan obsession.

I was wrong about that tidbit and you were wrong about MIDDLE OF THE SEASON.
He still missed all of fall camp, showed up on campus after the first game, and wasn't practicing until sometime after that because of the "acclimation period." For all intents and purposes, he basically was a player who showed up in the middle of the season considering he didn't even start working out or practicing with the team until sometime in September. No spring ball, no fall camp, misses a bunch of practices once the season had started.

Right after the first game isn’t the middle of the season. Sorry...English language thing. It’s out of our hands.

Idk, was that one Pruitt was talking about when he said they needed to stop throwing it to the wrong team?
He had a pretty bad INT % from HS, but he only had one year of film and he basically was just chucking it every down, really fun to watch. Haven’t heard anything about Pruitt mentioning him

Yeah, I glance in on recruits every once in a while, definitely fun.
But yes, Pruitt mentioned it being an issue for them in a presser last week.
