Disagree

If he has any history of violence with women it’s very relevant
Why do you keep calling it violence. NOBODY was assaulted. If anything he learn from whatever “prior” u keep bringing up with no proof. At least he knew not to hit the women. Just channeled his energy into the gate. Let’s not make something out of anything until the facts come out. WHY ARE WE ASSUMING THIS OR THAT.

Asking me? Obviously the rights of all accused matter, falsely or rightly accused does not matter...we are talking reactionary parents here though. Legal/civil rights are separate from university review and disciplinary actions. That is the concern iyam, not some silly misdemeanor.

Right. But do you allow some panicky parents to override the rights of BT? I'm pretty sure that would be a bigger public relations nightmare, and even more so if (when) it got framed as a racial conflict.

Stop arguing with Bruin...

You're arguing with brubear ain't ya? I don't see his filth, but I can still smell it..💩

Now Channel 5 in Nashville has a segment on domestic violence on college campuses. And BT was the lead picture. Cmon. Give me a break. I must be missing something. The kid got in an argument and yelled and damaged a gate. Good grief. This society is unreal.
We live in a vilify and crucify culture. Cult mentality. Slippery, scary slope were heading down IMO.

Please don’t misunderstand my post.

I’m saying IF he has a history of violence against women it’s relevant. IF he does distruction of property and threats are much more serious.

This incident standing alone isn’t that bad imo. I’m onky saying IF there is a history it would show a pattern

Yea if he isn’t dangerous to others and doesn’t have a pattern of this in his past then he needs to be supported and get on the field quickly
Only way to ascertain this is with some counseling. That is almost a certainty at this point. Counseling and anger management. Utilize our resources. Which way it goes, what it uncovers...who knows. But that is risk that needs to be taken and best for the guy.

I should say “whatever they want” within reason.

But this isn’t an actual court of law, right? Where does the burden lay?

No, it doesn't follow criminal law. It's internal, but the student is assured due process. The student is investigated to ascertain if facts and evidence support a violation of the UT Standards of Conduct and if the case investigators conclude that there is evidence of a violation, then sanctions, from a warning to explusion, are recommended and enforced. The student has rights, is entitled to an advocate, can present his own case and witnesses and challenge the allegations against him.

If a witness lies or misrepresents what s/he saw or heard, s/he can be found in violation and subject to his/her own midsconduct investigation. Which is why witnesses so often walk back their allegations. The next time they're questioned, they're often fuzzy on the details and unwilling to stand by what they said in the heat of the moment. The second they admit they're not 100% sure or indicate they could have been mistaken, the case crumbles.

Do you have any insight on the current process that could be taking place for Thompson at the moment? I know you know some people.
