Pruitt’s Leadership

This isn’t meant to be a bash Jones thread. This is more of a pro Jeremy Pruitt thread. We can be critical as fans, as people. Both coaches cared immensely about their players. We haven’t seen Pruitt under the pressure Jones was yet, but we have seen some of Pruitt in the spotlight.

I think there are many reasons Pruitt is not only a good coach but a leader. Pruitt’s tears last year will not be forgotten by me. He knew how bad our team was. He understood the questions. Instead of lashing out at reporters he showed his emotions, he owned them and he didn’t make excuses. He commended his team for their effort.

Where do you all think Pruitt has shown leadership so far? Or are you convinced yet?

Agreed. Coach Pruitt has demonstrated the qualities of great leadership you hope for the Head Coach of your football team.

Pruitt is a great teacher and great teachers are great leaders, so I like that. Still too early to say too much, but we at least know he's getting player development right.

actually, if you saw the UF player and Mullen (after the late hit on the kicker) the UF player was smiling the whole time -- kind of imo is showing up Mullen

All in on CJP...mainly cause we really, really need him to be “the one”.
Obviously he’s a new head coach and will make some mistakes but he sure seems like the real deal after enduring Lyle’s embarrassing gimmicks and foot-in-mouth syndrome.
I especially like that he gives praise sparingly and doesn’t make excuses for our shortcomings, but is honest and straightforward about what we have to improve on.

Na, it's all in good fun. I think at this point we pretty much know Pruitt is a good coach-- as in, teacher of the game. His ability to lead an entire team is unproven but we'll find out over the next season or two. He has a good staff, Fulmer to help him, and a new administration that is sparing no expense in rebuilding the program. I don't know what else you could ask for, aside from a splash hire, which we were never going to get.

Look at who all Currie offered. Brohm might have been a splash hire, but it turned out he was never offered. Yeah we were never gonna get one, because the only one they offered big money to was Gundy. And he wasn't worth it. But the big reason why they were never going to get one is because they never offered the right money and strong support to the right ones. Hopefully, they have the right building blocks in place instead of just great facilities.

One of the best attributes Pruitt has is that he isn't (or has yet to show) concerned with the media's perception of him and can take criticism really well. He isn't going to be concerned with the outside perception of this program and won't let the team do so either. Instead he is laser focused on making each player the best they can possibly be and it is translating throughout the whole team. Also, pruitt is direct, he is willing to be the bad guy, and yet can take a step back and honestly evaluate things. He isn't as stubborn and has shown a willingness to take a step back and make changes.

I dunno I have heard all sorts of stuff. Gundy would have been nuts to come here. Mullen or Leach would have been the best hires IMO maybe next to Pruitt and the jury is still out. That Gruden stuff was embarrassing.
