Beating Florida Comes Down To...

Yea...those TEN SACKS were simply pathetic.
Sheeesh...if our offensive hasn't improved A LOT over last year, Guarantano is in for a VERY long night.
Impressive DL talent but they feasted on at least one overmatched 2* OL all night. Won’t be the same cake walk vs TN’s 2019 OL.

After watching that crap show of a game last night... I would draw up some deep routes with our fastest receivers and just let JG do his thing. Should get PI called most the time.

I'd let Florida beat themselves. If they keep getting flags thrown on them they'll be playing on tilt and just keep getting in their own heads and we can throw them off their game that way.

They showed several weaknesses last night. Let's hope Pruitt has some good plays to take advantage of them.

Go VOLS!
Sounds great! BUT... We've never gotten calls against UF in the last 30 years. I doubt it starts this year.

We aren’t beating Florida this year. I’m focused on beating Vandy, UK, USC, and Missouri. We should run that quartet every year if we are truly climbing back. UF, uga, and the gumps come much, much later.

Sounds good thanks for letting us know. I won't even watch the game this year...smh FL didn't look good last night.

All right. That was maybe a little jaded on my part. I’m just not going to go into yet another season with unrealistic expectations and watch us collapse......again.

Battered Vol Syndrome? Likely. I’m just hoping we beat who we should beat and manage to stay in the game somewhat against superior opponents.

7-5, with zero absolute blowouts, is a solid season this year IMHO.

Unless, something changes in the next few games. I didn't see anything from FL that makes me think we can't beat them. Will we...don't know. One, I guess could cough it up to first game nerves, which is also possible. GBO!

Either Miami's oline is total garbage...or Florida's D line is insanely good. Or somewhere in the middle as someone mentioned. But I was watching the game imagining JG back there and thinking "oh my gawd...we are dead meat". At some point our oline just has to be better. Until then...we are screwed. They were destroying that Williams kid. Go Vols.

overall, the game was sloppy, but not too unexpected for so early of a game. Basically, UF did not execute very well but still 'out-athleted' UM, which executed better. UF was noticeably better than Miami. Not sold on Franks, who really gets shaken with pressure. The D Backs finally got called-out for pass interference. The D-Line is stout, but Miami was able to run with success and had time to make some quick passes. The challenge is that Florida will execute by the third game of the season and we will not benefit these errors.

Looks like all it takes to beat florida is minimizing mistakes, that was a sloppy game last night and it looked like neither team wanted to win.

Vols can not leave their freshman LT alone on the edge with Florida's RDE. Florida has some playmakers on offense and a bunch on defense. Really need Franks to play poorly to have a chance in Gainesville. Always a chance but both UF and UM looked a lot faster than the Vols

Beating Florida comes down to:

1. The team that makes the fewest mistakes will win.

2. Play for and make the breaks and when one comes your way - SCORE.

3. If at first the game - or the breaks - go against you, don't let up... put on more steam.

4. Protect our kickers, our QB, our lead and our ball game.

5. Ball, oskie, cover, block, cut and slice, pursue and gang tackle... for this is the WINNING EDGE.

6. Press the kicking game. Here is where the breaks are made.

7. Carry the fight to our opponent and keep it there for 60 minutes.

We in trouble. Save the injuries and just don't spend the cash and keep the team in knoxville. We got no chance. Stay home. All is lost. Settle for 8-4

During tonight’s game Florida’s D line kept and kept attacking when most teams would’ve been totally gassed after the sh_t show in the 4th. They’ve got great endurance and killer instincts. I think playing out of shotgun, running quick slants, and having the occasional Tennessee bomb down the wings straight out of the snap is key.... all I kept thinking as I watched Mullen laugh and Franks prance in front of the camera was how much I hope Pruitt instills an ethic in his players to stay focused and calm, believe in the plan, and do their jobs. No one in the SEC is as good or bad as they appear to be.
We have to move the defensive target in the backfield. Their D rush was impressive. However, Miami’s OL is young. Miami should have moved the pocket, rolled out more, and make quicker slant/screen passes. They just kept the RS Freshman QB in the pocket throwing down field. They did not move him around and quit with quick throws. UF defense knew where he was and just collapsed the pocket time and time again. Miami was successful early in the game with these quick throws, but changed their plan and never went back to what worked in the first half.

If we leave JG in the pocket play after play we will get toasted.

1. Move the pocket
2. Screen/slant behind the D front 7 to slow their rush (and focus on exposing that questionable secondary
3. Try pitch sweeps and jet sweeps to work on tiring out that D line chasing our fast RBs around the edge

We need a running game to beat Florida, to keep the game short, and get a couple of turnovers, sorta like how we beat Auburn last year.
Right on.... keeps Franks off the field and gives our D good rest. Not sure about the running game but Chaney will know what to do. He's seen Grantham's D plenty of enough times recently. We just need to execute. Both D's will be bringing it. I think our OLine is just as good as theirs but they MAY have the edge in pass rushers but then again we could be in for a surprise if our DLine comes around plus we'll be sending backers all day long.
