I would think that it weighs to what an initial investigation found. That’s all that has been said in his defense really is that there needs to be vetting of this to find out if he really did say it instead of let’s kick him out of school because 2 witnesses said that’s what they heard.

And? They’ll simply tell UT exactly what they told the officer. UT may consider that more serious than the police did. That’s the point.

With the facts that we have right now, I don’t see the University kicking him out of school. He will probably get a multiple game suspension, but that’s it unless there are other things we don’t know about.

That seems to be a low bar there....heck, I could ID him as well...most everyone at UT could likely ID him..."Yeah, I know who he is"....but they did not see him say anything...Just heard a man say those things...how are the dots connected here? Auditory witnesses who are UT football fans?

They heard him say it and likely walked around whatever corner or whatever it might have been and saw the guy who said it. Probably the only 2 people in the area.

I say you suspend the kid for the first 4 games of the season while they investigate. Sounds like a kid that needs football as an outlet for anger. Kicking him off the team and not giving him a chance to play the game for a living could make things worse for him in the long run. With that said, keeping him on the team should have some VERY strict requirements. If the kid so much as misses the trash can you kick him to the curb.

ha....Is there a statute of limitations?....Virginia Tech football team could bring charges against Darrell Taylor for his WGWTFA comment just prior to the game a couple of years ago.....I suppose the WGWTFA will have to be banned from this site

They heard someone say that....I do not believe anyone saw him and heard him say that...I may be wrong from what I have read so far, but have not seen where anyone said they saw HIM say that....Just that they heard SOMEONE say that...and then someone ID's him. Not sure how well that is going to stick if no one actually saw him verbalize that comment.

In that case suspended him for the year, see how invested he is and utilize a redshirt

If Thompson played at Florida he would be made a team captain for showing restraint for not physically assaulting the victim.
