All that is valid. I’m optimistic about Pruitt. I think the staff is great and their recruiting evaluation has been very good.

But I guess I don’t see this as a zero sum situation. I can feel good about Pruitt and still think it’s more *likely* Mullen might have more success at Florida. I can think with my head and feel with my heart. They don’t have to conflict.
That’s fine and also fair. Mehlen was a good coaching choice for Fl. But that’s not what you said. You said it’s highly unlikely that Pruitt ever wins the east. So I will assume here that you over spoke and that you just are uncertain about Pruitt right now which is a fair take.

I think we win the east next year if everyone comes back.
That’s the first year where I think we have a chance. Defense next year should be absolutely nasty. Offense will have to replace some weapons tho at receiver and I bet Chandler doesn’t come back.

But add Rakim Jarrett and Gilbert and look out.

Ah, so anyone that prefers Pruitt to Mullen and thinks he will be the better coach in the long run with the most success is thinking with their heart instead of their head. Whereas anyone that is using the past to predict the future is a brilliant, unemotional, superior intellectual.

Here's what the 2020 roster could look like:

[Disclaimer: there are probably a few errors, and "level" specifically is pure conjecture. Just take it for what it's worth]

Another note-- this supposed roster (complete with the inclusion of likely commits) is at 89 scholarship players.
5*'s- 8
4*s- 30
3*s/ST- 41

It’s that time of year that every weakness we saw in the offseason is shown as a strength for them
Therefore, look for the Franks heisman train to get rolling, DB’s to lock down everyone, OL to dominate and depth everywhere
Ugh I really despise it.

But it really seems that way every year.

Yep. I fully expect to their entirely unknown and inexperienced OL to be completely dominant while ours sucks again for the 4th straight year

Just looking at the calculator again..

With "locks" of Hardy, Baron, Arik, and Whitehead, this puts us at:
19 commits
253.12 points
Good for 9th nationally based on current commitments
5*- 1
4*- 9
3*- 8 + the LS

PosGrp | 5* | 4* | 3*
QB | 0 | 1 | 0
RB | 0 | 1 | 0
WR/TE | 1 | 0 | 1
OL | 0 | 1 | 2
DL | 0 | 4 | 0--you could probably move Baron to LB if you want to be technical
LB | 0 | 1 | 0
Sec | 0 | 2 | 2
ATH | 0 | 0 | 2-- Calloway and Williamson will likely wind up at WR

Still light on LB, and we'll want one more RB and WR. Then we can take a couple/few swings at the best available.

So we keep after Rakim, Smalls, Omari, Eason, Beckwith, and Oxendine.
Here's where opinions are like a**holes and everyone's got a different combo. None of us know what could happen this fall with W/L records, HC firings, and position coach/coordinator churn.

I'll say we land Smalls, Beckwith, Thomas, and Oxendine.

This puts us at 23 commits
275.20 points
Good for 11th nationally based on last year's final rankings
5*- 2
4*- 10
3*- 10 + the LS

PosGrp | 5* | 4* | 3*
QB | 0 | 1 | 0
RB | 0 | 1 | 0
WR/TE | 1 | 0 | 1
OL | 0 | 1 | 2
DL | 0 | 5 | 1-- you could probably move Baron to LB if you want to be technical
LB | 1 | 1 | 0
Sec | 0 | 2 | 2
ATH | 0 | 0 | 3

And we could still find a fine RB to add depth and potentially boost us into the top-10. Funny enough, both 2019 and 2020 would have the same star make-up: 2 elite players, even split between blue-chips and 3*s.
You left out Sewell...

Most of my point about it being unlikely Pruitt ever wins the division was based on the fact that it’s *unlikely* a coach at Tennessee ever does it. Like I said, we’ve done it 5 times in 27 years. If something has that type of conversion rate you would say that thing is unlikely. If a batter is hitting .185, you’d think it’s unlikely their next at-bat results in a hit.

It’s just so hard at Tennessee. No recruiting advantages, and we have to play alabama, Florida and Georgia every year. Couple that with the fact, as you said, we know nothing about Pruitt yet, and yes, I think it’s unlikely it ever happens.

Doesn’t make it impossible. It makes it very hard. But it’ll also make it that much sweeter if it happens.

I get to go home for 12 days next week, but it’s kind of just sad. Reminds me of where I cannot be for the time being and all I’m leaving behind for the next year. Really not looking forward to it.

At least I’m bringing a friend with me. I’d hate to be there in my own during this

Glad you're bringing a friend with you - you can share the beauty and the mystery that is Thailand. I hope you enjoy every moment you're there - I would love to just experience Thailand - you lived there and you will be back!

Dad always told me, when I got homesick, bloom where you're planted. I know you are.

Okay but a decade of those attempts were under the intern, DooleyC and Kiffin. So I’m not sure that’s an accurate statistic.

Alabama will also come back after Saban retires. Ga is good right now, but not Bama level yet. And we’ve beaten them twice in the last 4 years so ga shouldn’t scare anyone. And I doubt that Mehlen will have Fl playing at the level of the Spurrier/Meyer Fl teams.

Thanks. I’m doing the best I can with what I’ve been given. It will be fun to show off my town and have some fun. Just praying nothing big pops up while I’m there, like being forced to move from our house. I think is all good. Rent will be paid, landlord should remain happy. We’ve got a family moving into our home and taking care of our dog and those were massive concerns taken care of 🙏
