So is the trend for the NFL to follow new ideas from college instead of vice versa?

NFL has been blending in Air Raid for awhile, the Air Raid is more of an amped up West Coast system than something "new" and exciting.

Most NFL offenses these days mix in tons of plays from different college specific offenses. It's just college teams specialize in 1 system where the NFL takes pieces of all of them. It will be interesting to see what Kingsbury does, since most expect he will run an offense closer to a "pure" Air Raid scheme than a mixed bag.

It's because that's all they have available. Almost nobody in college takes a snap from under Center anymore, and with the trend for underclassmen to declare for the draft early, no one is really ready to take on the job as an NFL quarterback. Of course there are exceptions like Mahomes.

The discussion of JG to the pros seems to be focusing on whether he should go pro after this year, when the real question is whether he will. Kids make bad decisions all the time. Quarte Sapp being the most recent example.

Also, add Jared Goff to the list of Air Raid QB’s to get drafted high recently. Cal threw the ball all over the place under Sonny Dykes.
Fun fact, Quarte is my gf’s cousin. “Cool story bro”
