Gun control debate (merged)

@evillawyer @luthervol here is someone losing their rights. And not just on the 2A side of things.

@evillawyer @luthervol

That's two rights down, plus the added cost and injustices done to him. Keep saying it's not about getting rid of guns.

Sounds terrible. Is he going to survive. Will he need PTSD counselling. This must be one of the worst experiences of his life. On par with not getting to meet Mickey and Minnie at Disney.

Serious question ... what the hell kind of lawyer are you ? I don’t think I’ve ever seen one that thinks like you do before .

There are certain segments of society who have never seen the inside of a court room, they don't do anything to warrent being there. This guy did nothing wrong.
Why you so mean?

A damn good one, or so say my peers.

Do you know how many people are falsely arrested everyday in America and have their ACTUAL liberty deprived for days, weeks or months? That's much more serious than having your toys taken away. So yeah, not going to shed any tears for a guy's Rambo toys being mistakenly confiscated for a little while.

I don’t believe anyone said you should shed a tear , but one injustice is the same as the other I would think ( I’m no lawyer tho) you would think any lawyer would be wanting to fight for the rights of the public instead of laughing it off and making Disneyland comparisons because of personal bias . i wonder if your peers do the same thing .

And the guy can bring a claim against the government for violating his constitutional rights.

I don’t care what he is able to do , your bias was what I questioned . It’s odd . I was under the impression lawyers are supposed to help with those kind of things . That’s why i asked what kind you were .

And if you wanna talk about the real problem with government taking away property, it's this:

If you want me to watch video you’ll have to post something from someone a little less left of Bernie . I wonder if he ever sent that check he promised Trump if he ran ? LOL

Lawyers get to choose the cases they take on. I assume you don't think that attorneys that are anti-abortion should be compelled to challenge anti-abortion laws as unconstitutional, do you? They don't have to cheer when those laws are struck down as unconstitutional do they?

Again your bias is what pops out at people that’s why I asked what you do . Your words show you don’t think all liberty's are the same . Nobody should ever have to warn a lawyer of this , but if one can be abused they all can be . I feel like it mostly my fault for expecting that higher learning to be held to a higher standard .

They're not toys they're Constitutional rights. No one should be ok with them being falsely taken away even "for a little while".

You’re ok with someone getting ****ed over by the system as long as it regards something you don’t agree with.

Law enforcement makes a sh*t ton of mistakes. Some are major, some are minor. Some are correctable, some are not. Some can be compensated, some cannot.

Taking guns away for a few days is perhaps the bottom item on any reasonable person's list of regrettable mistakes made by cops. It pales in comparison to shooting unarmed people, false arrest, and civil forfeiture. Not even close.

Are cases only prosecuted on a sliding severity scale or are all given the same consideration? Do we prosecute all 1st degree murder cases first, next is 2nd, then rapes, manslaughter, etc?

This would not be a criminal case. Regardless, my point was not about order of prosecution. It was about mistakes made by cops and what problems should warrant the most attention.

Wouldn't you agree that falsely arresting and holding someone for 1 month is more egregious than falsely confiscating their guns for a month?

That's like claiming that since an innocent man was once sent to jail we should never send anyone else to jail.

When your peers are Larry, Daryl, and Daryl thats not saying much.

No one is okay with it but everyone understands that it will inevitably happen. All we can do is try to minimize those things.

When you say “all we can do “ you mean all attorneys / legislators can do , right ?

I'm pretty sure it's that your bias can completely, with malice even, negate any interest in upholding even the appearance of due process regarding an enumerated right that has people taken a bit aback considering your line of work and the tenets generally though to reside therein.
