New QB Transfer, Kasim Hill

Some of you guys are putting WAYYY too much faith into a qb that has a lot of the same issues most freshman do, on top of being at least a year behind the others and a lack of mobility. Is it possible? Yes..... but highly unlikely.

I can see your point but most on here that have read about Bailey and see film on him can see the guy is very talented. He will very likely start as a true FR. You would have echoed this same argument about Peyton in 1994. And you would have been equally wrong.

KB you’re doing the same hit job on this kid that the JG detractors are doing to him. Hill is better than that.

I like the move it’s a zero risk pickup of a proven starting QB with real game experience to add depth. He needs a full year of rehab and Fitz’ S&C then we’ll see where he is next year. Could take pressure off Bailey to compete right away, maybe even allow him to RS. Also allows us to not waste a spot recruiting another ‘20 QB.

You honestly see little potential here under the terms of this deal? If so SMH
I see a backup QB for us the next couple of years. I think all this transfer does is put our current backup QBs names in the transfer portal next year. The QB room will look pretty good with JG, Hill and HB. I'd like to keep Maurer but he's probably too talented to sit the bench his entire time here, he'll be the 1st to go I believe.

I guess this is about a good a thread as any.

I want/wish JG to develop into more of a scrambling qb. With the right training and coaching, he could develop that into his game more. Maybe that’s what they are doing, I honestly have no idea.

I get the whole pro style NFL qb pass before scramble mentality (and they trying to get JG drafted) but in college football.. let me repeat IN COLLEGE FOOTBALL, look at the correlation of qbs who can make things happen on their feet and championship rates. Outliers are there, but for the most part, I want a qb who can scramble and avoid pressure.
There have been just as many Pro style QBs win college championships as have the dual threat guys.

Jerry Colquitt doesn’t blow his knee and he would’ve been right.

He's the most Talented QB, but they will sink or Swim with JG
You nor anyone else has any idea about how talented Bailey is in comparison to JG, Shrout and Maurer.....literally no idea. He may get on campus and look great, like a real stud, or he may get here and it may be clear that he needs a lot of work/the arm isn’t as strong as they thought/he has issues picking up the system. We’re just not gonna know until he gets here....and it’s clear that both Shrout and Maurer are talented young QBs.

And if Head football coach Pruitt, who’s been a part of 5 national titles, and OC Chaney, who coached/developed Drew Brees and has had good to great success everywhere he’s been in college football, decide to play JG as their QB, it’s because they know he gives them their best chance to “swim”. And with all due respect, their opinion far supersedes anybody’s on this or any other message board.

Certainly not my intention. I’m simply trying to out JG’s detractors for the hypocrites they are.

I think it’s a good idea to have an experienced QB in the room. He may never take a snap here, or he may be called on to win a game at some point, you never know.

But the fact is, all these people saying “he’s got wheels, he can make every throw, blah blah blah” are seemingly ecstatic about a QB who’s not nearly as accomplished as JG while playing far worse competition. I find it ludicrous to be doing backflips over a guy who can’t win a job at freaking Maryland, while at the same time ishing all over the QB on the team they root for, who’s proven to be a much better college QB to date.

Lol bleacher report. Here’s another one for you.
BCS Championship-Winning QBs Since 2000: Few Have Had NFL Success
Mauck, Tebow, Bama game managers with scrambling ability, Vince, cam to name a few

Not even mentioning the fact you ignored the history of college football rush only offense
What are you talking about? There have been more Pro Style QBs win championships the last 40 years than dual threat guys. It doesn't mean either one is better, it just means that you can win with either one. The top 3 teams in the country this year all have pro style over dual threat.

That's the exact same report. 7 of those 10 are pro style, only Cam, Tebow and Vince were considered dual threat

Possibly. But I’m not going to respond on it in an effort not to make myself out to be a “hater”. I like his skill set. He’s a good qb. He’s just not where a lot of people think HE is IMO. Can’t forget who his receivers were and are.

I can see JG going pro only cause he's already done his 4 years and might just be done with school. Obviously isn't super likely to get drafted, but it might not matter to him. To be fair, that's just complete speculation.

Why did he leave md?

Who wouldn't make that move?

Interesting we went after king so hard, then outta the blue grab Kasim.Seems Chaney really wants a Dobbs like dual threat.Do the kid some good to sit a year, get fully healthy, learn the system and be ready to compete.Def helps us build better depth.

If Maurer’s the starter and Bailey never enroll because of it? All the creds and I’ll own my wrong. Expect you to win the crow eating competition tho...and change your screen name to ChumpVol. 😎
I'll take that bet.
Fair is fair.

Agreed. No one knows jack but where each were ranked in their own respective classes. Does that mean more talented? Not by a long shot. What I do know is we have 3 qbs on the roster right now and 2 of them were misrepresented coming out of HS which equals a 66.6 miss rate within our own locker room. 🤔

“Considered” dual threat. What I consider dual threat may be different from what two writers on a sports website or yourself consider dual threat. Again history is against you, and again my original point remains:
JG could improve by being more 2 dimensional.

Seriously doubt he's ever going to run around very much again after 2 ACLs the last 2 seasons.
