I'm glad this board is a place where we can talk football, say snarky stuff to each other from time to time, occasionally agree to disagree, but just also be the kind of place where you can just be a good human being to a fellow Vol fan.

I hate for you all going through tough times right now.
I love this place

Well...except for a few penis-noggins..😉

Longest week and few days of the year starting today. The count down is on. Big boy adult Christmas is almost here.............It's almost football time in TENNESSEE!

At inside linebacker, Tennessee's only scholarship options behind the top four of Daniel Bituli, Henry To'o To'o, Will Ignont and Shanon Reid are J.J. Peterson and Solon Page. Bituli and Ignont have been banged up this month, too. Bituli was pretty limited on Tuesday and spent most of the open-viewing period of practice watching drills and coaching up his teammates, Beasley included.

Hey guys,

My Mom passed this morning. It was very peaceful and calm after several days of rapid decline. We were able to be with her the whole time and are still up here in Cincinnati taking care of my Dad. Thanks for all your prayers.

*Sorry to drop this in here, but y’all are some prayer -sending folks and we could use em.
Hate I missed this yesterday. Sorry for your loss. Prayers for peace for you and yours.

Most of that was from a Pruitt quote when asked about Beasley moving to LB. Here is the full Pruitt quote:

“Well, it is really just because we are thin at the linebacker position. We have a little bit of a bug going around with a couple of our groups. Just so we can practice. Aaron is a guy that would play money linebacker as a defensive back. He is going to take a few reps there. Daniel Bituli has got a sore knee. We have kept him out of a couple of practices here. We still have to keep practicing even if guys get banged up or get sick. We are making do with what we’ve got. He is a guy that could probably play in there.

ON IF HE THINKS BEASLEY WILL STICK AT LINEBACKER OR DEFENSIVE BACK

“I think he could play safety. We recruited him as a safety, but he is a guy in high school that was 215, 220 pounds. He has worked hard to get down to about 205, 206. But just from practice, I think moving forward, he is a guy that today worked as a third-string inside linebacker. He could either work as a third-string inside backer or a third-string safety. So I think he has an opportunity to play faster right now this year in our nickel and sub packages as a linebacker.”

So it doesn't sound all that bad. A little thin and a couple minor injuries/sicknesses mean they need some bodies there. Beasley is more likely to get PT as a sub package LB so he's moved there for now. But when they're all healthy, which it sounds like he expects them to be to start the season, we will have a full 3 deep at inside LB plus Beasley. It would be nice to have more depth there for sure. But they made it sound like we won't be able to fill a 2 deep at all this season. Which is false. Bears, Beets, Battlestar Gallactica.

Oh, I'm not worried. Just having fun with the roller coaster.

Another interesting quote from Pruitt on Sham at the Star:

“I would say he’s mature. He’s mature on and off the field. He’s worked hard to do that. He’s shown that he can be a little more reliable, dependable. I think he’s got some ability. He’s a good competitor, has a good feel for playing inside. We’ll just continue to work him at star and see where that goes. Working Alontae (Taylor) in there. Nigel (Warrior) can play there. Theo (Jackson), (Cheyenne) Labruzza. We double train our guys so they can all play multiple spots. We’re just out there right now trying to figure out who is the best five that gives us a chance to win. Who is going to be the sixth guy, who is going to be the seventh guy, who is going to be the eight guy and so on.”

Maybe... and I’m not about to get political or social hot topic, so I’ll say, PERSONALLY, the new phase of the MCU has me about as excited as a swift kick to the man fruit

Gonna slightly agree here as I'd still much rather watch the next phase of the MCU than get my royal jewels kicked. It's gonna be weird moving forward without the characters we have been watching for the past decade and a half. Still gonna go see the movies, but the excitement has dropped for me. At least Thor is still there.

Another interesting quote from Pruitt on Sham at the Star:
Now I do wonder, given what Pruitt said about losing his connection with the guys last year, has everyone he mentions improved that much? Is it taking a more positive approach, this season? Is it a mix of both and each are likely to produce better results?

Idk but I'm gonna find out in 10 days. And I'm one giddy TN fan as the countdown begins.

The fact that they were able to make a 23 movie "series" that was entertaining and create a massive universe of characters that fit into storylines coherently together is nothing short of incredible. I doubt we'll ever see something like that again. It was beyond ambitious to think they could pull it off. Whatever comes next has the burden of following that and will likely be judged unfairly based on expectations the MCU has itself created. Personally I am going to try not to judge the future movies based on what they did before as they don't seem to be trying to continue that ambitious theme. I still think they can be what any singular movie generally tries to shoot for. Entertaining.

To me it seems like by not building the relationships last year he didn't give them enough reason to buy into his demanding coaching style. Thus you get the Mizzou and Vandy games. Now the players seem to have bought in and guys like Sham who didn't seem to have the right mindset in practice last year because he didn't have that relationship with his coach, have bought in and are bringing it everyday like they should. Knowing yer coach has yer best interest can go a long way toward wanting to meet or exceed said coach's demands as far as how to practice, play, class, etc. It just sounds like this year he has developed those relationships and he likes the way his team is responding. TL;DR good leadership goes a long way and Pruitt learned a lot from last year.

I think it might be a mix but heavier on your take of the guys bringing it.

He just doesn't seem like a guy that blows hot air for nothing. If he is trying to be more positive to pump them up then I would think they've at least given him reason to do that. Maybe they're not quite as improved as he's claiming but he sees that they're well on their way.

Yeah, that's what I'm saying.

Also, it's not like he anointed Sham or anything. I think we were just so used to Pruitt last year that any mild positivity is construed a glowing praise.

He basically just said he's a little better than he was last year and has some potential to be pretty good. We'll continue to give him a chance there and see if he can keep it. Not exactly littlevol or d4h level hyperbole here. Pretty mild praise if you ask me. haha

My good friend is an archive of all things nerd. Guy basically ran a comic book store in HS. As we know Fox could eff up a wet dream, even Fox Sports sucks.

For some reason they have the rights to Xmen and Fantastic Four. App that may change at some point soon? i dunno.

Edit: Prob common knowledge.

If I'm not mistaken, they have those rights because Marvel was really hurting and needed money so they sold the rights to Sony to stay alive.

Don't disagree with any of this. I really enjoy Thor, GotG, and Spiderman. I may be alone, but I really like Dr. Strange as he is just different from the rest of the superhero's. And Black Panther is just cool. I guess for me I can be a purest at times basically very much enjoying the originals. Kinda like with Pokemon. I enjoy the first 251, but after that it gets eh. What they pulled off was fantastic and what the superhero movie genre absolutely needed. I wasn't really watching many before this whole MCU thing because I got tired of (and still tired of) Batman and Superman. Two way over done superheros and Superman is just a plain character anyway. I'm definitely not a Captain Marvel fan mostly because I am not a fan of how the actress who plays her acts her out in the movies. Other than that I am intrigued to see where they go from here.

And may I add that Pruitt now has a full year of being a HC underneath his belt. I'm sure he has learned a few things on how to be a HC over that time frame that has helped with his relationship with his team as well.
