On and off the field. The kid has been one of our best recruiters. He's bringing half of Marietta High with him. The future is Big Orange Nation.
After landing Ojulari, Bailey turns focus to five-star Gilbert
“The brotherhood and friendship with BJ, that I’ve built with him, is outrageous.”
And now, after Friday afternoon’s announcement at Marietta High School, that brotherhood and friendship will continue at the next level.
Ojulari, a four-star weakside defensive end, joined Bailey in Tennessee’s 2020 class of commitment, picking the Vols over LSU, Auburn and a host of others.
Once Ojulari set a date for his ceremony, Bailey knew it was time to shift into another gear with his Tennessee sales pitch.
“Man, ever since he announced his commitment date and even before that,” Bailey said.
After Ojulari joined the party, the focus now turns to 2020 five-star athlete Arik Gilbert, the No. 10 overall player in the class according to the 247Sports Composite.
Bailey is in his ear constantly, asking him the same question he was asking Ojulari.
“What are you trying to do?” Bailey said. “We say that to him everyday.”
Gilbert has Tennessee among his favorites, alongside the likes of Alabama, Georgia and Clemson.
“He’s just ready to get it done,” Bailey said. “Can’t speak too soon. He keeps it close. But we’re all really close. Me, BJ and Arik. We all talk about stuff like this.”
Now when they talk, Bailey is planning the rooming assignments at Tennessee.
“We have a couple more we have to get in the boat,” he said, “then my roommates will be set soon.”
