All Thangs Pussum and Chad Thread

Is this the music thread? (I truly can't keep track.)

Some happy stuff for a Friday night with an almost-full moon, with the God-blessed voice of Marvin Gaye (despite what people do with their lives, I always want to give praise for the gifts that they were given):

It’s always a good time to listen to Marvin Gaye, the man had a true gift.

Added: Gladys Knight (and the Pips) were awesome also, Marvin Gaye owned it though.

There used to be a radio station in Memphis that played old-school music. This was back in the late 2000's, as best as I can recall. It was sold to some corporation somewhere in the early 2000's and lost its soul.

It was set up as and Old School station. It was great - not just the music, but the commentary, lots and lots and lots by the old-school R&B artists. They played a ton of quotes by R&B artists, like by Gladys Knight, referring to modern urban contemporary (greatly paraphrased, but doing my best): something along the lines of "They call that music? That ain't music!!"

All I can say is that Earth Wind and Fire and Tower of Power were pretty much the last R&B acts I listened to. Because after that everyone seemed to sell out to generic schlock and disco, and I love lyrics, and I love music, and I want to hear a story told in music. And because I am a cranky old lady, lol.

--But I do have a weird and indefensible love of this one, because if you don't listen to the lyrics, it is a seriously excellent piece (note: it is dirty as hell):

(again, don't listen to the lyrics, because they're pretty damn awful)

It's really danged infensible, but get up and dance!

Perv!😄

Hey son, it's music; get up and dance!!

edit to add: My boop-boop (aka remote-keyless-thingy-booper-that-opens-the-car-doors) has died, so I suppose that I will have to drag my car and sorry ass to the dealer in hopes that they have the ability to deal with a 2002 Honda Accord, which I seriously doubt.

But really, despite the deficiencies of my boop-boop, this is great music. If it doesn't make you want to get up and dance, there is something wrong with you.

I think that you should introduce this to motor mouth and make him get up off his sorry azz and get dancing. Just because.

--and if you can get some dancing going, I think that you should post some vids.

eta: note: perhaps (since DH does the car maintenance bit) if the mechanics at our local shop looked like this, I might get my boop-boop fixed a bit sooner..

Maybe you just need a new battery in your boop boop. They’ll change it for you at Auto Zone or O’Reillys.

I don't know about anyone else, but as far as football is concerned there is nothing better than a Tennessee Volunteer win. That's # 1 to me. # 2 for me is a Florida loss. One week from today it could be possible.

Would be sweet to spend the following week waiting for Us to play knowing the Gators had already lost. If they don't, oh well, no biggie.
