OWH's Topic That Will Never Die XXIII

My wife had been with her sister today and text me asking if i wanted her to grab me something and drop it off for dinner. I replied "either pizza hut or Windy's chilli". She responded that she was not Volnation, but if i wanted "Wendy's" she would stop and get it😄

Ooo, be careful. You never want to use the wrong name...

She pokes at my addiction, and me talking about people on here. My favorite story was last year in Texas, hopefully Volly doesn't whoop me for this. We were in San Antonio for my daughters graduation, and Volly had suggested Mi tiara, a Mexican restaurant. That evening when everyone was talking about dinner i said "we have to go to mi tiara, Vollygirl says its awesome". My mom asked whp Vollygirl was, and my wife didn't miss a beat replied "one of his Volnation girlfriends". My mom, aunt, 3 kids, and 2 women standing close all turned and stared at me😄😂. I had to explain what Volnation was, and how we've all become friends. It was hilarious though.

lol, that's great!

DH and I met online while I was a volunteer mod on his forums. We worked together virtually for 4-5 years before we became friends IRL. I think it's the modern-day version of WWII penpals. It's interesting to meet people virtually, finding out what their values and personalities are like, before meeting IRL and throwing the chemistry confusion into the mix.

Note to joevol: don't tell Tiffany this. lol

This place has been awesome, even have a few folks on Facebook now. You really do get a connection and care about people. Like our prayer threads in the zone, I've put those names on prayer lists at church, and sincerely pray for them. Volnation has been awesome.

OWH taught me how special the relationships are here.
if you don't use online as a way to fake what you are, and instead as a way to show what you really are, you'd be amazed at what happens. You can develop a lot of everyday friendships, and sometimes more than that.

You can also learn a lot, lol.

I'd say it's the most important part. When I first signed up I was just looking for a place to talk about UT football. Now I've got several people that I consider genuine friends that I've met here.

I was the same way when I joined, in 2017. I had lurked some, I don’t think I lurked long, don’t remember. I’ve always loved football and the Vols, I needed a distraction at that time, I overheard someone mention VolNation at the hospital and I looked it up, (I wasn’t the patient for the hospital, my son, tore his ACL and meniscus). I thought it would be a good way to learn more about football and answer questions I had and distract me from worrying. It just happened to be during the Gruden hype. I was hooked. Along the way, got to know some very fine people along the way, and behold, they had challenges in their lives also.

I found it looking for info when Fulmer was let go.

I did a search for Vols message boards. VN was at the top of the page. I joined right after the 04 season started. There were just a handful of regular posters back then.

My wife was going through chemo when I first found Volnation. I remember the night I signed up. I was laying in bed, and was just googling Tennessee stuff to distract me from worrying. Ironically, I didn't really post much for a while, but that's changed😂
