What internet speeds do you need for YouTubetv? I see on their website it says 7mbps+, but want to make sure it’s not buffering mid Tennessee touchdown this fall. Looking to switch once my current contract runs up in September
Honestly believe depends on usage in your area.
I only had 6 mbps but Vue never lagged except around 6-7pm. Guessing just high usage around me at those times.

Okay, so you agree with me. It’s not about saving money.

500 channels of crap + added stability + same exact internet package = cable is still a better deal than the 70 channels you get through YouTubeTV or Sling or whatever.

All these streaming services are a big scam tricking hipsters into thinking they’re getting a better deal.

I think it just depends on everyone's situation. I agree with you that cord cutting doesn't necessarily make your situation better and save you money. I have looked at doing it for several years.

I was intrigued by Youtube TV, and it would be great for sports. But I have 4 kids, and two are still young enough to watch cartoons. Youtube TV does not offer Nick or Nick Jr. Of course, I can probably find their app or something else to supplement it. But if I can get a cable rate at $125-$140, I am basically fine with that. For bignewt, his situation is fine for it, and he is saving money.

Saving money by cutting the cord is largely a myth.

Not really. Thinking you need unlimited internet data for cord cutting is the myth. Unless you have a large family all streaming from their own rooms + gaming, etc, you don’t need unlimited. I saved $30/month just doing 1 TB of data + YouTubeTV and I don’t even come close to 1TB and with streaming/gaming. Our first month we didn’t even go over 500 GB. So we used half of what we were given.

i'm not sure what mine is, you can speed test though at home, just google what's my internet speed...and you'll get several options.

i'll just say this, at any given time in my house, i have 3 iphones and an ipod going, 2 alexas, at least 2 roku's going..and a laptop and printer all connected.

i get the occaisonal, and i mean occaisonal, buffer.

during football season, i have 3 tv's and 3 roku's going at the same time, and usually it's not a problem. i will at times take one of those TV's to the antennae and watch one of the games over the air if buffering becomes a thing.

the only app that i've ever had an issue with is the ESPN app when our game is on SECN alternate. and that's because that app sucks.......not because of my internet. lol.

Good morning. I want to go ahead and apologize for this being long. I am a longtime lurker and very small poster. When I do post it's usually in the ticket forum. I am reaching out today to ask anyone who prays and believes to say a prayer for me today as I finally am going to see a neurologist tomorrow. Since March I have been having episodes of dizziness, equilibrium off, neck pain, fogginess, ringing in ears, you name it and I've probably experienced it. I have been to my normal doctor plenty of times and a ENT doctor plenty of times and everytime they say it's nothing and it will just go away. Well 5 months later and it's not. I've had an MRI of the brain and a CT scan and both came back negative. I really just feel like I am worrying myself sick because of my wife and 4 kids ranging from 14-4. I know the power of volnation has come together to pray for people who are sick. Please just keep me in your prayers and hopefully I can come back tomorrow with some actually news and hopefully it's good. Thank you and Go Vols.
You got it bud.

I get that you individually cut costs, but it’s because you were getting a bad deal before cutting the cord. Likely because you were a long time customer and lost your introductory pricing.

Anyway, you could sign up for AT&T through another name, or sign up for Xfinity or another top carrier, use their introductory pricing, and get three times the channels for like $110. Not to mention the exponential stability increase traditional cable gives over streaming

That’s all great until you have to keep cancelling and switching your account every 1-2 years to keep that pricing. For instance, here in Nash it was $90/month for internet + DirectTV for the “introductory pricing” for first year but that was a 2 year contract and the 2nd year goes up over $120/month. So my wife and I would flip flop every 1-2 years to keep getting that “introductory pricing.” Why keep doing that when I can pay right at $100 instead of $120+ more and be completely stable, no more haggling. Those “way more channels” aren’t worth it since they are mostly channels that are mostly crap channels. Saves me money and time.

I’m all for sticking it to the cable companies. **** those guys and the bad options they’ve given us for years just because of the lack of competition. However, I’ve noticed the live-streaming services crossed a line at some point and now they’re price gauging just as badly as the cable companies.
That was always the business model. It's called penetration pricing. Businesses exist to make profit. Streaming services were selling at a price to steal customers and create customer loyalty. At that price they are literally losing millions of dollars. So that price was not a true equilibrium price. It was always a facade. Now that they have market share they must increase the price to become profitable. I don't like the price going up anymore than you do but if they didn't increase the price the would have to shutter the doors at some point. At this point all that has happened is that venture capitalist have lost tons of sunken cost into a promise of future windfalls and they are ready to start cashing in.

Ha, that's a pretty good point. And they're pretty much the same size, both 5'11, Ty is 201, Berry was 205. Similar style with the ball in their hands.

I think Ty has faster top end speed, but Evan was a great one cut and run guy. The one positive from Butch's staff was that someone taught Evan not to dance and just go upfield and make a cut.

I think in addition to that devastating "one cut and go," was that Evan had great vision. When he made that one cut, it was usually the right cut.

Good lord what a waste of talent by Butch and company...

Butch did field some really good special teams units. Other than field goal kickers. Gotta give some credit for that.

This is a link to Rockers interview today. I thought it was good and he pumped up LaTrell Bumphus. A guy I did not expect to do much after switching around.

Would be a big surprise if he is a starter, big contributor, IMO.

I would have told Hyams to take about two steps backwards.

We get by with 750 GB and rarely get close and there are 4 of us. I have two college students at home.

I recently purchased a Amazon Fire Stick 4K ($49.99), which I jailbreaked by turning on Developer Mode and Allowing Apps from Unknown Sources. This allowed me to follow a few "verified safe" instructions online to install a few apps that give me free TV streaming, free sports, and free movies. I have 300mbps cable internet with an Orbi Mesh network, so my Firestick gets pretty fast internet speeds. I only have a 1080p TV for now but paid the extra $10 for the 4K Firestick for when I do get a 4K TV. I already have Amazon Prime and Netflix (which I might cancel). So far, there isn't anything I haven't been able to watch without breaking the bank. Any Android (Roku, etc...) device should be able to do the same. So far my Internet provider hasn't sent me any "DCMA" notices, but if they do I can route everything through my AWS OpenVPN VPN.

Are you on Kodi, or another platform?
