For the cord cutters or those thinking about cutting the cord, I'll share what I do and it is a large savings per month.
Before I cut the cord, I had slow internet, all that was available in my area at the time, and was paying $70 a month for phone and internet (had to have the basic phone to get internet because was living in the sticks). Even with the introductory pricing on DirectTV, my DirectTV bill was $90 a month, because of multiple boxes, having to pay extra for DVR and HD. Not too bad, but you have to sign up for 2 years to get that pricing, and it goes up a lot after the introductory pricing, but you can't negotiate pricing until your contract it up. After the 2 years the equipment is dated, and needs to be upgraded, well then you sign up for another 2 years, so you are locked in again. Long story short, even after negotiating on the price after my contract expired, the best I could get was around $135 a month to get enough sports channels to watch the games I wanted, along with other shows that I enjoy. It ended up averaging around $205 per month for TV and internet.
Once I cut the cord, and moved, I can now get high speed internet for $60 a month, Philo for $17 a month, and Playstation Vue for $55 a month during football, basketball, and hockey seasons. I drop Playstation Vue through the Summer months until football starts back, so I pay around $80 a month for TV and internet in the summer, and $135 the rest of the time. The monthly service of the streaming services allows me to do this, which is nice. I'm saving $70 a month now, and have all the channels I watch. I have checked, and even with introductory pricing, I would have a hard time finding TV and internet for less than $135, and even then wouldn't have the luxury of cancelling at any time.
