the back 7 will make the DL look good. There will be a lot of coverage sacks this season. The linebackers and secondary will mask some of the pressure problems that we may have.

What about stopping the run? Can our DL get off blocks or will their poor play make it harder for the LB's to make tackles? If we are giving 5+ yards a pop on up the middle runs, we won't be able to stop most teams.

Here's my projected Day 1 Starters (IF Trey is cleared) for the OL: If Trey isn't cleared I expect Ryan Johnson to be the starter at LG

The nice thing about this list to me at least, only 2 guys listed under 300lbs (pulled from UT Sports Summer Roster). And the shortest guy is 6'3", that's some mass on the line.

Chris A I think is the only other potential contributor this season. Lampley I think is likely a RS this year and I don't know if Ollie will earn any snaps or not.

the DL is gonna be a tough thing to hide against the run. as soon as you start to have to bring help to stop the run, they get you in the pass game.

the DL, and front 7 in general, are going to have to find a way to stop the run....at least sometimes.

they can get somewhat creative with some run blitzing, but you don't want to do that too much otherwise it becomes predictable.

i think the secondary in general will help the DL on coverage, and allow them time to get to the QB and affect him.

but the run game is a little trickier if you can't do it on your own up front.

Yea I know that but think About it 25 signees means at least 25 OVs

That only leave 31 others. Maybe I am
Wrong but that seems unrealistic

56 sounds about right, a lot of kids tag along other officials too and take unofficial visits which I believe have no limit.

Yes I am sure there isn’t a limit to UOvs. I’m surprised it’s not more than 56 but I guess some classes bank OVs and can use more if that rule is correct

AKA it takes time to build a championship level program. We have the strength staff in place and that has already worked wonders. Just because a position coach is awesome doesn't mean the players auto become the best in the conference. Freshmen are freshmen and will ALWAYS need to get better even if they are a Morris/Wright/To'o To'o level of talent. Players who have had zero coaching up (think all of those that didn't come in under Pruitt) were basically freshmen when Pruitt got here.

I mean it really didn't get "heated" until McGill said he was going to put the guy on ignore, that seemed to be what set it all off.
Such a boilerplate issue...that ignore button. 😏 Grown azz adults screaming COWARD at others who choose not to deal with them. I’m on more than a few and haven’t needed a blood transfusion.

I think 7 wins, competitive progress and strong coaching would be enough for most of the recruits we want. We'd probably have to win 8-9 games to land some of the longshots. But 7 plus a bowl win and no embarrassing blowouts would have most people feeling pretty good about where the program is heading.

The lines are where players have to step up. It was good to see Chaney get vocal yesterday. We have to have improvement on the OL. But you're right-- injuries and bad bounces would hurt.
I think 7-5 is definitely doable and should be dobe...IF...always that big IF...Murphys law loses it's stranglehold on the UT program. There is no margin for injury at all due to the extreme thin nature of the roster, and we have to have the on field breaks go mostly our way for a change.

I’ve been thinking about this and last year we operated out of multiple defensive formations, 3-4-4, 4-3-4, 3-3-5, and 4-2-5. A few months ago Hank said it was his view that we were in 4-2-5 more than any of the others. 4-2-5 is I think what both Florida and Mississippi State run most of the time. In a 4-2-5 we really only need 2 DTs. I was thinking Solomon & Middleton backed up by Williams and Emerson. We just need to find the edge guys.

Obviously Darrell Taylor on one side and in the past they’ve actually worked Bituli some with the DEs. That’s my preference with Ignont and To’oto’o in the middle at linebacker. Pruitt made a point last week of saying that Henry could call the defense so I took that to mean we may have more flexibility with Bituli who is normally the QB of our defense. Our 5 best DBs seem to be Warrior, Thompson, Taylor, Flowers, and Burrell. We just need to find some other guys for the edge on the line and that may end up being by committee.

Phil Steele said he expected our offense to score more than 30 points per game this year based on the norm for our returning production levels. He doesn’t even factor in any added effect we may get from Chaney as the OC. I think our defense will improve this year more than our offense which is why we will win a shocking amount of more games. jmo.

I would like to see Jahmir at LG if Trey can't go. Need his nastiness on the line.
