Chaney “had” to work with the o-line because Friend sux. No more “Sudden Change” being yelled through a microphone. Recruiting isn’t going very well. Solomon still not cleared. BYU fans are going to storm Neyland. Some guy, who is a preacher has a bad attitude. We have a lot going on here to be angry about
Couple of my favorites but I did skip 20 comments chastising Chaney's weight, just like every other practice thread 😕

Just how much money are we wasting on Will Friend? Not making good assistant decisions is what got Fulmer fired.

Have to be happy that Chaney is not ready to put up with mediocrity.

Can’t believe friend still has a job anyway, I mean what do you have to do to get fired?

Its the kind of thing that causes fist fights between coaches after practice where I come from.

He gone...In one forum anyway

Does anyone know how many official visits a D1 school can allow per recruiting year? or is unlimited? I know that a prospect can take 5.

It's amazing how many Internet coaches exist online who don't seem to understand how an actual coaching staff works. Incredible considering they're such great couch coaches and share their acumen with the world on Twitter and on forums.
The "how long" outlook, I don't get it. But I know more than 1 season when it's one of the worst lines in cfb that was also completely jumbled do to injuries/health

lol. yep. there'll be a day (hopefully not?) that this could be a topic worth discussing.

that day is not today though. lol.

What stinks is that we probably don't have the horses yet to make that leap. It is indeed a pivotal year, that is just how it is, but the odds are stacked against us. We have almost no margin for injury at all (losing Gooden already just makes it even worse), or bad bounce type of things to happen this season in order to make a leap forward.

It is what it is..

I'm going to take a personal privilege here and demonstrate that I too can be a dickhead. I may not be that good at it but I recognize it could be fun so I'm trying it out.

I thought last year we probably had an 8 or 9 win team but in my opinion due to issues with both the players and coaches we grossly underperformed. I recognize that not everyone shares my assessment and that’s okay. The point is I don’t think we’re really starting at the same point this year that many others see. If we coached and played our best football last year and was only able to muster 5 wins that would be one thing but both inside and outside the program I don’t think a lot of people were thinking we came anywhere close to playing our best on anything close to a consistent basis last year. I think you could argue that in general we played a hell of a lot better with a lot less in 2013 than we did last year. jmo.

I like Pruitt but I think he screw it up last year and screwed it up royally. I’ve sort of thought of SEC media days last month as Pruitt’s apology tour. The least of my concerns are our players. It’s sort of like that Stoops comparison that was posted earlier. My concern is our coaches. I’ve seen a night and day difference in the attitude of our players this year compared to last year and I think that’s almost entirely because I’ve seen a night and day difference in Pruitt from last year to this year. We’re about to find out how real that is. I’m pretty optimistic.

I think our fans are justifiably focused on beating Vanderbilt and maybe South Carolina, Missouri, etc. I think Pruitt is focused on beating Florida, Georgia, and Alabama, and for that we need to continue to improve. We probably still have some ways to go but I think we’re at least a 10-win team this year. jmo.

Don’t @ me fellow dickheads.

Don't think we have the horses yet for that. 7-5 ain't no jive.

Sounds good, but I think we lose a couple games we should win due to turnovers, bad luck, etc. So 8-4.

8 is where I'm at this year with bigger and more talent, with an easier schedule. I don't see it for last year but I did think 6-7.

Agree on coaching mistakes but will add that I completely expected several from a 1st year hc.

Pruitt likes his staff a lot including Rocker and Friend. As he noted guys could tell you what to do in meetings, draw it on the board. But it didn't translate well enough on Sunday for a group of guys who have little to no game experience. It will improve. This time a year ago he and Rocker were screaming their lungs out because they were having to coach effort. For the most part that's not the case in year two.

Looking back, Helton (and the possible Pruitt interference) had a horrible offense.

I do remember Pruitt being mad on his show about "when the run up the middle isn't working, I don't understand why we keep trying to force it."
So interference, probably. Micro-manage, not so sure.

Either way, it was bad.

Helton was Sunseri bad. Worst OC we’ve had in a long time. This isn’t a knee jerk reaction or anything like that. He was terrible and didn’t help JG with protection at all.

“Mike Gundy said there was a point where he would not finish his career at OSU. Said he’s turned down the Tennessee job 3 times.”
