Basilio is the Alex Jones of UT sports talk. Everyone knew he was that good. You don't just win Mr. Football 3 times and just be mediocre.
Sounds like really good news to me. Gotta remember Pruitt's standards are really high considering the guys he's been around.

Tbf, Mr Football is by class afaik. His HS was DII-A one year I think and DII-AA the other two. He may have been surprised by a kid playing at a lower level killing it right away at UT. Either way, really good news imo. If you can pop Pruitt's eyes, that's dang impressive.

Backfield looks good.

Chandler is our best offensive playmaker and Banks, Jordan are serviceable backs. Eric Gray will also get carries. Future is bright.
Banks and Jordan would get the nod as our more “power” backs, but Chandler usually takes at least 2 guys to get him down. He can lay people OUT

Lulz, ok...

Darel Middleton hasn’t locked down the strong-side defensive end spot yet, but he’s moving in that direction. The staff is enamored with his ability to swallow space and move so well laterally. While they continue to challenge his tenacity, violence and down-to-down effort, his upside gives him the edge...

Why does this give me the Albert Haynesworth vibe?

Of course, the coaches realized Gray was this good. He was a flip target all fall and was on campus a lot with his family. His skillset is one we need, and the coaches made him a priority. The hope was always that he would contribute this year, but shoulder surgery in January set him back. He wasn't full contact in spring, so the media is just now getting to see him in practice.

I think TBs point was that he’s even exceeding expectations, not that he was seen as some “just pretty good” RB. It’s funny his compliment is so controversial.

If healthy, he should get the bulk of the short yardage carries.

I’ll take my chances with Gray. Sounds like he has the vision. You don’t have to be 220 to get short yardage. Banks isn’t Jalen Hurd (the RB version). Even so, that’s not many plays. What I meant is that’s ALL his role will be. The occasional dive
