In regards to Eric Gray, Basilio just said, “The coaches didn’t realize he was this good.” And also that it was important to sign him in the early period because Bama was pushing hard toward the end.

Of course, the coaches realized Gray was this good. He was a flip target all fall and was on campus a lot with his family. His skillset is one we need, and the coaches made him a priority. The hope was always that he would contribute this year, but shoulder surgery in January set him back. He wasn't full contact in spring, so the media is just now getting to see him in practice.

So a kid that was being recruited by nearly every major team in the SEC plus Michigan Penn st and others wasn't just a throw in RB to fill the class and take a flyer on? I don't know LA, that sounds like a Hank take.
