Booom!!
Fired up about Tatum.

The kid worked his tail off, paid his dues and now it’s his time. Excited to hear the words he is cementing his starting spot!!

That’s what college athletics are all about. To hell with all these kids running away from the bench and not waiting and working for their time!!

My favorite Vol this season !

agree with @LA Vol and @Ron Swanson on the development front and not HAVING to play freshem vs. wanting to play them because they're the best option. been a while since that's been the reason we've played freshemen, at least in the quantity we have lately. glad there seems to be some room on the roster to develop some of these guys. that will benefit us later. and yes, JJP falls in to this category, until he doesn't.

excited about Tatum and Sham....both of those are good news...hope those trends continue.

really excited about WB and AT and Bryce Thompson.........that's great we have that good a competition.

looking forward to seeing what Chaney does with Gray and Chandler....

i feel like we're on the clock with Trey Smith and Aubrey Solomon. at what point do you have to move on to getting your rotations and stuff set so you can practice with who's going to play? not saying we shouldn't hold out a little bit here, but less than 3 weeks til game one, don't you have to start putting guys together so they can learn how to play w/each other? i know the answer is "yes"...i just don't know what the line of demarcation is.....i would imagine we're approaching it faster than we think.

otherwise...still exicted to see what we got.....

It's crazy that small town Greenback is good year in and year out. Not that I'm complaining. That's my hometown. Unfortunately, I was on the blount county side and had to go to William blount 😒
I remember beating Greenback in the playoffs early 2000's. Their tough.

nice. glad to hear it....puttin' any weight on?
Yeah, much slower now than the initial sudden gain. But I think mid summer plays a big part, heat triggers it so I'm not doing a lot of muscle building type work.
Should pick up as the temps cool and I'm lifting/working a lot more outdoors around the house.

good deal. sounds like you're at least getting the energy back to actually go do it. that's good.

From the FF @AlwaysOrangeNeverBlue meet the RF and our resident statistician/analyst @ChattaTNVol

Got bored this morning and got a little inspiration from a RockyTopInsider article detailing some of the changes in offensive output from schools the year prior to Chaney's arrival and during his first year there. I took some of the data they compiled and extrapolated on it further.

2019 UT Season Projected Offensive Numbers based on Chaney's Average % Change

Calculated the percentage change in each school's Prior Year and 1st Year's: (1) Points Per Game; (2) Yards Per Game; and (3) Average Yards Per Play. You'll be able to see each stop's statistics below. I then calculated the average % change, and then used that mean to calculate a hypothetical "average" increase that could be expected to be seen this year for the Vols. This was a purely quantitative analysis.

2019 UT Season Projected Offensive Numbers based on Chaney's Purdue and UT % Changes

Their point at the end adds a good qualitative twist to it, which suggests that the Purdue and UT seasons are a greater indicator. This is due to those two seasons being ones in which Chaney took over with an incumbent QB, unlike others where he had to implement a new, unexperienced one. These numbers were a hybrid of quantitative and qualitative analysis.

The RockyTopInsider Article link is here: How Big of an Impact Can Jim Chaney Have in 2019? | Rocky Top Insider

Conclusion

Both of these are good indicators of where UT's offense should be this year. Personally, I think it will be somewhere in between the two, with the YPG of the Purdue/UT chart more indicative (although still too high) for that statistic and the PPG and AYPP of the Overall Average chart being more indicative for that statistic.
