State lost a lot of NFL talent and a starting QB. They still have a solid roster but plenty of holes to fill.I'm in this boat. I can see 8 wins, but I think 6-6 or 7-5 is more realistic. To get to 8 wins, I think you have to beat Miss. St., USC, and Mizzou, and I'm not sure we can beat all three. Miss. St. is in a bad spot on the schedule between UGA and Bama, USC needs that game just as badly as we likely will given their schedule this year, and Mizzou has had our number, plus its away. JMO.
But last year the Shamecocks played pretty hard (TWSS) considering all their injuries. Didn’t sound like they were checking out on Muschamp.State lost a lot of NFL talent and a starting QB. They still have a solid roster but plenty of holes to fill.
I wouldn't favor us at this point over Mizzou at their place.
USC is interesting. Should have beat them last year (IMO the game everyone overlooks when talking about missing a bowl). They have been all over the place at times under Muschamp. I think they are on the edge of checking out on him. Its possible they walk into Neyland 2-5 with a trip to A&M and home against Clemson still on the schedule later.
It has been speculated. Don't think any official word has been released or will be.Any truth to the rumor that the NCAA has already denied Solomon's request and TN hasn't announced it yet because they filed an appeal and are waiting on that? Would explain why it has taken so long compared to others.
When a player who is not a graduate transfer leaves a school.it is an automatic sit out one year situation. The appeal is to eliminated that automatic requirement to sit out a year. Since they have not heard a NO, I am optimistic that he will be playing this Fall for the VOLs.Any truth to the rumor that the NCAA has already denied Solomon's request and TN hasn't announced it yet because they filed an appeal and are waiting on that? He implied as much in his vague riddle way. But who knows if he was actually told this straight from the horse's mouth (hard to imagine Pruitt or a compliance person just sputtering it out tbh) or just hearing similar musings from other folks around there (who probably read VN, btw). Not doubting him if he said he heard it straight from a primary source, but sometimes you get that feeling when VN throws out a theory on Monday, it ends up on ToS by Tuesday, then someone on here says "there's a rumor on ToS" by Wednesday...considering we were spitballing this idea a week or two ago, then Tony B brings it up, it pops up on ToS as a bona fide rumor, etc it just has one of those "all roads lead back to VN" feelings to it.Atlanta Vol said this was the case

USC is talented. Texas is talented. OSU is talented. LSU is talented. AU is talented. None of them win consistently and some of them are like us, falling behind. Look at USC. They are clearly one of the most talented teams in the country and they went 5-7 last year and we look at them on Bama's schedule next year and laugh. They don't have a chance. The point is that the most talented team doesn’t always win. It’s important but if it’s all that mattered UGA would have 17 national championships.
Their schedule is ridiculous.
If Gray is even a fraction of what Kamara was on the catch, I'd say let's throw out to him and Chandler in space and let's roll. Get DWA, Wanya, Trey blocking on the 2nd level...JJ blocking the safeties (plural)...hmmmJust something to watch for. Seemed like a few times last season on the opponents side of the field from 35 or 30 Chandler or Jordan were open for a nice gain 20 yards or more down the middle coming out of the backfield. Now with Johnson coaching the RB group and the sense that Chaney is going to be running a "throw first" offense, will be really interesting to see how the much the RB's are involved in the throw game. There's plenty to build on.
Mehlen seems to be way too optimistic for a kid that was just arrested this year and was having issues...maybe more to the story than we know. If it means throwing Kirby under a 16 wheeler that destroys all credibility, I might get on board. As long as it all goes public and is very messyNo way he gets it!! If he gets a waiver, then I would riot if I was any university with a transfer that didn’t get a waiver.
