I think this is different. He’s not an edge like they use Darrell Taylor who is technically an OLB.

From what I can gather they are using Crouch as a down lineman.

So Crouch will have his hand in the dirt? Seems a bit small to do that at this point

Not immediately but I see what Hank is getting at.

Also don’t think you have to get to 300 in four down sets if you’re strong enough.

Wouldnt it make more sense to try that with Roman than Crouch though given hes played NT in HS and also is naturally strong as an ox? I mean if we're gonna speculate on something crazy that would make more sense to me.

They might be doing it and Roman isn’t ready to get snaps immediately.

I don’t get why posters want to see Crouch at RB when we are hearing buzz he can help us rushing the passer. We have a good stable of RB with plenty of depth and talent. We need all the help we can get getting after the passer
Yeah we need Crouch on defense. Pruitt gonna make sure of it to imo

I think a lot of people, myself included just think that we already have some talent at DE/Leo and outside of Banks, whos still 20 pounds lighter than Crouch, we dont have that old school hammer back. But as much as id like to see Crouch be the second coming of Jamal Lewis, id honestly rather see him at LB for his career here. The thought of having him, Henry T, Peterson and Roman all as 230+ pound backers who can stop the run and also cover in space is exciting as hell. Those all seem to be guys who are blossoming into Bama level lbs, something we havent had in forever.

Vols run more than a 3-4, that’s just base. They also run a 4-2-5 where he’s the pass rushing DE.

Which is exactly what I said in the original post he quoted
DE is the same as a 3-4 OLB which is what people here are referencing.

He’s an edge. Call him whatever you’d like depending on scheme
