I Also dont think this year we have much of a chance in the swamp. I'm guessing florida by 14-21
I think the Florida is in trouble.... A lot of distractions this off season. Go ahead and bash me but I think the Vols beat the gators in the swamp this year.

If y’all really want to delve into a true rivalry that’s dying, it would be Alabama-Tennessee.

A portion of the fan base doesn’t want to even play the game anymore.
All the Bama fans I meet and talk football with absolutely consider it a huge rival game. Historically it's always been a real streaky rivalry.

No. It’s only a rivalry when each team wins about half the games. Hating a team doesn’t make it a rivalry.

You make up your rules and I'll make up mine.

They just finished winning their "about half" now it's time for our "about half".

I'm a die hard Vol Fan im 26 years old and can only remember the 2016 game since we beat the Gators. Does Florida even consider this a rivalry? OR do they view us like we view vandy?

How many wins in a row do we need to keep this a rivalry again?

This is pathetic right now.

Dont even get me started on UT- BAMA....
Unfortunately, we have not been overly successful against either team historically. Prior to the 90s, we didn't play Florida that often, and had trouble even then. Bama has given us fits for a long time. We had a winning record against them when I was in the band in the 80's; but that was an exception to the rule.

Salute. I'm triggered and off my meds.
Been seeing that label for your disgust at noses buried in Gator hind quarters.

Stay off your meds, imo. Need more behrs and less bit... well, you get the point.🙋‍♂️

One of the biggest mysteries here. They'll get all mad, lose their minds, drink themselves into oblivion, kick buckets of light bulbs and throw crap through their TV's if we lose to the gators, but then call me triggered and in need of medication because I question why they show them silly sumbishes so much love.

Natural reaction of the submissive and the very attitude/culture we're going to exterminate on the field.

It's weird how I once hated Florida mainly because of Steve Spurrier whipping our ass so much in the 90's.

Then I moved here and the fans were so frigging obnoxious it added more frustration and hatred and it became more than Bama.

Now, who would have thunk it was Vol fans that has flamed this hatred for them that can't be matched? I always try to find positives in everything. The positive to this is it actually takes some of the responsibility off the gators. Meaning, their dominance over us is not the only reason I hate them, in fact, it's not even the main reason anymore.

Yep, like I said earlier, they don't faze me any more than any other team because the on field result only lasts 1 off season. Then it's anybody's game again, don't care about streaks or whatever. Florida is nothing to me.

But the chance to shut up the embarrassing part of our fanbase, now that makes the game mean a little more.

Is funny those that declare Vandy our new owners over a few games also claim we have to beat UF for a decade for it to count.
Almost seems like a bs double standard doesn't it?

Don't even care about those that bend over and ask for another.
I'm just here for when they start throwing out that "we" stuff.
Anyone that wants to bow and whimper over lost fb games, go on.. but they can choke on that "we" crap.
I don't care what happened last year or the one before that. If we lose this year, I'll move right past that too. There's no "we" involved, I don't have an ounce of respect for that trashy azz program, university, town, coach or their fans. F.e.s.o.o.t.

Perhaps that’s because it’s entirely possible to be irrational in your hatred of a rival, and get irrationally upset when losing to that rival, yet be rational and reasonable when having a conversation or discussion with fans of said rival...especially if that rival fan is also rational and reasonable.

That's not in the same neighborhood of what we're talking about.

Florida doesnt consider us a rival because it has never really been a rivalry. We started playing them on a regular basis in 1990. Since then, we have only won 7 times.

In order for this to be considered a rivalry, we would need a good 5-7 year dominant run over UF. Then we might be able to call it a rivalry. JMO.
The Gators laugh at us. Why? Because, even when we were as good or better than them, we found ways to lose. Losing to UT NEVER EVEN ENTERS THEIR MIND. EVER.

We will never completely dominate The Gators, ever again. Same goes for Bama and UGA. My hope is that we will put together victories against them, often enough, to get into the SEC Title and NC discussion, every now and again. In essence, I just hope to break even with these programs, in the future. Catching and surpassing UF and Bama is a tall order. Especially since we play Bama and UF away, together, every other year.
Now, let's say we beat Bama and UF, in Knox, and lose to UGA, in Athens. But win all other games.........I think we are a contender. If we lose to UF and Bama, on the road, and Beat UGA, in Knox, and sweep everyone else, We are still in the SEC East and SEC Title discussion. But no playoff invite.

When have we ever really dominated UF?
