In Johnson the Vols are getting someone with all the tools to be an elite two-way player. A long, rangy wing Johnson will immediately become one of the top athletes in the SEC the moment he steps on campus to begin his Tennessee career.

He’s got the blend of length, athleticism and lateral quickness to be an elite perimeter defender from day one, capable of guarding all three perimeter spots and some power forwards. Johnson excels at getting into passing lanes, can deny his assignment the ball with his length and quickness and challenges shots at a high level.

Offensively Johnson’s shot is much improved from a year ago but refining his perimeter jumper is the final ingredient that will make him a nightmare of an offensive threat. He’s a monster in the open floor and attacks the glass with efficiency and effectiveness that belies his size and frame.

Johnson is also a cultural fit for Rick Barnes’ program, one which emphasizes chemistry both on and off the floor.

I was a competitive powerlifter in my late teens and early 20s. I had over 500 on my back and its not much fun. There is absolutely zero reason for me to squat now a days, jut run and keep the upper body in shape. Squatting is serious business but hey you do you.

Newt nephews 18 going to play at Mars Hill this year. Squatted 585 last week. Ole miss told him hes an inch to short. Right now hes 6 2 305

Absolutely!

I'm not gonna fool myself that they'll have trouble fielding a good team. But there's all the signs of someone struggling with the heat and spotlight of a big time program.

I’m not going to get back into arguing their size but to me the DL is our worst position group. I think that’s the group that could really hurt us and keep us from winning 8-9 games
