UT needs some wins to make it a rivalry. UF looks on UT the way UT looks on UK or even Vandy. Even with recent success, most of us wouldn't call it a rivalry.

That said, this kind of thread is irresistible to our resident Floridiots. Their arrogance is worse than any other sports program I know of outside of UNC basketball.

It's still a rivalry obviously, but it's been a VERY one-sided one for like 15 years. It's probably on the precipice of becoming a forgotten rivalry if we don't start winning more. Alabama is probably already in that territory. We care about it, but nobody else does.

Considering vandy has whipped the **** out of us the last couple of years I doubt florida views us like we view vandy.

If true that just goes to show you how stupid they are. Maybe we haven't had too much success against them, but we've had success. We've won championships... Yes I know it's been a while, I know how some of you like to wallow in that chit, but we're not Vandy or Kentucky and you ought to be ashamed for even suggesting it. Pfft.

Let'em look at us the way we look at Vandy, it'll be that much sweeter when we whip that ass. And Vandys too.

Seriously? I don't like anything about it. I hate UF. But pay attention even to how their "friendly" posters on this forum talk about UT and UF. For that matter, look up a few posts and 99gator will prove my point. They don't respect UT and don't consider UT a "rival" in the sense that UGA or FSU are. He even says that USCe is a bigger rival right now.

Let'em look at us the way we look at Vandy, it'll be that much sweeter when we whip that ass. And Vandys too.

I'm with you. I would love to have Pruitt go on a streak against UF that makes it hatred on both sides again.

Years ago, my old HS considered the school Jimmy Streater went to a "rival". They thought of us as a pet. I think it had been over 10 years since we beat them. It was VERY similar to the UF/UT relationship. We'd get close but always found a way to lose.

We brought in a new coach (not entirely unlike Pruitt personality wise) and began to beat them routinely... and sometimes badly. Then... it became a rivalry.

In a rivalry both sides should think they're going to win. UF has been in UT's head a long time.

Whatever, y'all can wallow init and look good for the resident gators. Maybe they'll go back to the Gator board and tell the 4 or 5 people over there how cool y'all are. Lol.

You misread my post.

Not considering Tennessee a rival has nothing to do with how good Tennessee is. I have been consistent about this. I didn’t consider Tennessee a rival in the 90’s. I also stated that I know it’s a minority opinion.

But, of those who do, of course no one considers Tennessee a rival on the same level as Florida State and Georgia. I don’t even know what to say about this. Sorry, if that bothers you, but those games are on a different level and always will be.

As for my comment about South Carolina, you are smart enough to understand the underlying reason of why that’s the case. I even mentioned Will Muschamp in the post. Losing to a Muschamp coached team is going to be a different deal than losing to Pruitt and Tennessee. If Muschamp was fired tomorrow, the South Carolina game goes back to being no big deal. But, while he is there, it is.

Imagine losing to a conference team coached by Butch Jones or Derek Dooley. That would sort of be a must win for Pruitt, wouldn’t it?

LSU and Georgia are bigger rivals right now to Gator fans than Tennessee. Hopefully we can start winning more in this series like starting this year to start making this a rivalry again.

As soon as Tennessee smacks Florida two years in a row. We gonna go back up the food chain thats how it goes we probably wont rocket past florida st or UGA but we definitely passing LSU and UM.

Florida is no longer a rival. USCjr took that spot since that series at least goes back and fourth every now and again. Vandy, UGA, Bama (only because 100+ years) and USCjr.
